Guest scoobydoo99 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 £30 a month for a Desire - 2 year contract? That's £720 ;) My Pulse cost me £90 and I'm on Vodafone for £8.50 month (300 min, unlimited texts and 500mb/month) on a 30 day rolling contract - so no contract duration  The T Mobile 2.1 update has transformed my phone and I can't see me changing for another 12 months or so. I'm sure I'd like a Desire as well but it wouldn't be worth an extra £400 to me.
Guest Daz555 Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 My wife had her Desire delivered today and I've been setting it up for her tonight. Blimey its fast - iPhone fast to be honest.......and as for the free RAM - about 15 apps running and still 183MB free. Not perfect though. It will not connect to a hidden SSID (even with the enabler from the Market) and has 3G connection problems - both known issues which I suspect are being ignored because Froyo will be on just about every networks OTA update within a couple of weeks.
Guest dodge-167 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 i think that i just bought a T-mobile G2 (HTC Hero in Black) for 180€ (is that expensive?)
Guest tabor56 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 Thats not bad, im sick of my Pulse so thinking i might try to get a Hero cheap off ebay. This phone will never be fully working with a version of Android 2.1 so might as well give up and go for different handset. Will definitely not be buying another Huawei phone again.
Guest mistercovert Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 I have also left the Pulse fold as well. Sold my Pulse for £70 and I have just picked up a LG Optimus GT540 for £99. Got it rooted, tethered and all the apps I need and I have still got 70mb spare. Runs very solid, feels better quality than the pulse and the resisitive screen isn't too bad once you get used to it. Also it doesn't have the sms problem. Running a very recent 1.6 build at the moment but 2.1 is due this month. I'll miss the Pulse but not the SMS bug
Guest tabor56 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 That from Carphone warehouse right? I was looking at that, only the resistive screen puts me off.

As soon as we get the sources we will see a very good implementation of 2.1 on the Pulse - swap, compache etc and maybe a small overclock.
Guest tabor56 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 It will still have issues with receiving SMS and it depends if we will ever actually have the source code.
Guest mistercovert Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 That from Carphone warehouse right? I was looking at that, only the resistive screen puts me off. Yes it was, had a play for about 20mins and I was impressed. The screen isn't bad at all, I thought it was going to be terrible - I was pleasantly surprised. Phone was unlocked GSM stock as well and is quad band, at present I have a Hong Kong V10B_00 build dating from July 2010 on the phone, used Univeral Androot to root the phone and install superuser. The media support including divX and Xvid could prove welcome, music quality is good, speaker isn't quite as loud as the Pulse. The build quality is very good and the bigger 1500maH battery is welcome as well. 3.5mm headphone jack as standard so no convertor needed. For £99 for a new Android phone, is excellent value, I was tempted to try the Samsung i5801 with its capacitive screen but that £150 + topup at Orange store, but I couldn't justify the extra £50 for a second phone/hack phone. My Blackberry 3G is my main phone.
Guest meinnit Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 My 12m SIM only contract is coming to an end. I've had enough of the Pulse....it can't handle the most basic functions of a phone....calling and texting!! I'm considering taking out a contract to get a new Android phone (Desire, Wildfire or Galaxy). This is tempting: Free HTC Desire 300mins Unlimited texts 500MB net Unlimited calls to 1 Orange number 18m contract £25 a month http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/phone/HTC_Desire_Black/ Not bad at all!

I don't blame you. Definitely lost two texts yesterday from mission control (ie, my wife), no sign that they ever got to my phone. Not a sausage. Unforgivable. However, I am a technological masochist and will stick with it.
Guest meinnit Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/13/t-mobil...at-radio-shack/ Can we import these?
Guest -Wii- Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Just got my desire, finally after the long waiting list. Wow Just WOW.. That's all I can say. It does everything you can imagine, perfectly. and to be honest THE HTC touch makes it even better integrating things that you would expect common sense would have put into android like linking facebook googlemail and contacts together. Simply amazing.
Guest darkdevil1 Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 (edited) Wow. I'd definitely get a Desire if they cost that little over here. I'm currently paying 20€/month for my Pulse (12m) without any form of internet! Desire would cost you way more over here, and you'd be stuck to a contract for 24m. Anyhoo, my Pulse contract also expires next month, but I'm going to switch to a sim-only and keep the Pulse a bit longer (but only thanks to the amazing work of the people on these forums).
