Sorry my mistake, it is not in the list of languages on mine either so it must be another problem. I presume your google account is US registered? There's an option in Gmail on the web to change to English US, maybe try that or check google settings?

I don't think English-US was ever an option. I can try again but I looked really carefully and didn't see it. I will give it a go one more time.

You should try to install "MoreLocale2" (free) from the Market. You will be able to set "English-US" as a locale then.

I have a question about Sense Froyo: is it true the stock browser is slower and somewhat more laggy than it is on Sense Eclair? I'm not sure I wanna update to 2.2 for that matter. I'm also a bit scared with all the things that aren't working on Paul's ROM apparently.

Also, can someone upload a capture of Modaco's boot screen? Thanks.

yes it is ticked. MoreLocale2 seems to fix the problem for the flixster app but not for the google search. Let me try a different browser and see what happens.

Hey man,

MoreLocale2 definitely fixed the Flixster app problem. Everything is accurate now.

But MoreLocale didn't fix the google issue yet on the stock browser, however with Dolphin HD Browser, everything is working just fine with the Google Search results.

If you wipe, the problem will disappear. You need to setup your phone from scratch, and your contacts will be reloaded from your Google account. And their pics will show up in messages.

If you do not want to wipe, a previous poster suggested "clearing" your contacts and let them reload (sync) again from your Google account. I do not to what "clearing" means in this context. If it means deleting them all, I am too scared to do that though, coz I dont know how to do that without the phone syncing the deletes BACK to Google and erasing all your contacts there.

So what I do is go into my contact list, delete the contact pic, add it again, and voila it shows up in messages.

As I only message with a limited nr of my contacts, this was not much work.

I had that on mine, English-LV was missing though, compared to original ROM. Use MoreLocale2 from Market and set up whatever locale you want. Are you using prebake?

Then I have no ideas how English-US was absent from your ROM, because I baked mine too and it was there.

I just tried to change locale to Russian-RU and google.com still transfers me to google.lv but now it is in Russian instead of Latvian, which I get with Latvian-LV, so language of site you get depends on locale, but site itself is somehow tied to your location/ip or something else.

Another quick test with de-DE put me on google.com with indication that I am in Riga (capital of Latvia), so choice of site is combination of your location and locale settings.

Well, I will re-bake a rom and see if I get the US-English.

I updated my Desire yesterday and sent a friend an sms. Yet he has told me has received 20 sms from me!!! Has anyone experienced such a problem?

Ok,

I got most things sorted now, my only real issue now is that I can't get the APN to turn off and stay off.

I have tried two APN switch widgets, but they turn it off and then it automatically comes back on again.

Can anyone please help with this, as I don't want the APN on all the time.

I actually found a widget that worked finally, typically though the widget is on the big side and light grey which is no ideal, but hoping they will change it at some stage.

So, I re-baked a ROM and the US-English was there and the Google search is fine now.

This is what happens. When you install a fresh ROM, reboot your phone. The first thing that shows in the setup is English-UK and I always scroll down and never ever saw the English-US, it turns out that English-US is just one above the English-UK. I always assumed that English-UK was at the top of the list and never bothered to scroll up.

Anyways, it's all sorted out now.

backed, wiped, installed with no problems however after the third boot the boot animation is gone only black screen. i know it's not a big deal and everything else is working fine but I like to see something while booting, any idea?

If you want to try a different app, I used SMS Backup & Restore (http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore) to restore about 1400 SMS after installing R8 and haven't had any problems with profile pictures.

I am having trouble with this ROM, whenever I reboot my phone the date resets to 1/06/1980 and the time to 12 am

Really annoying

Seems to have resolved itself now, must have been a temporary network issue
