It's installed to the system partition so it can't be removed.......Just thinking it might not be included with the pre bake without MoDaCo additions, although you wouldn't be able to use A2SD+ with that one

Hi all,

I have installed prebake R8 with A2SD+ as my first custom ROM and am generally happy with it.

The only problem is my battery life is really bad (less than a day with moderate use) and battery info shows 75% awake time.

Spare Parts' Partial Wake info shows WaveSecure causing almost all of the awake time, probably doing something in the background eating up CPU and keeping the phone awake..

Is anyone else having the same problem? Can you check Spare Parts' Partial Wake info if you are using WaveSecure?

Since its installed into /system it cannot be unistalled. What could be the work around?

I will have to bake my own ROM eventually but don't have an adfree account yet.

Thanks..

It is not absolutely necessary. Try to do a battery calibration first, like here.

open rom file you downloaded with a zip manager, go to system/apps folder and remove the wavesevure apk file. Next reflash the updated zip with fakeflash RomManager.

Hey, thanks! I didn't know that you could edit a baked ROM.

I have A2SD+ and a bunch of apps installed. What is the best way of flashing the edited ROM to keep my downloaded apps and system settings (accounts etc) ?

Should I make a titanium backup and wipe everything including the ext partiton, or just flash the edited ROM? (I have Amon RA via Unrevoked).

Whats the best backup option in titanium backup? All User Apps or All User Apps + System data? I read somewhere restoring system data sometimes causes problems..

EDIT: Downloaded prebaked R8 with A2SD+ again and couldn't find the Wavesecure apk. Has it been removed since the last time?

Hi!

Thanks for the ROM, but I encounter a problem.

After I installed the ROM , I noticed that I couldn't use any Google service anymore (like Gmail, Market, import my Contact's name etc..)

So I ran Configuration, and I was surprised to see that my Google Account was named "google_login" and moreover, I cannot change it.

What can I do? I tried with both cooked and regular ROM...

Thanks for your help

Has anyone noticed any issues with the GPS and R8? The phone can 'see' a number of satellites quite happily but either doesn't get a lock, or it takes forever (this is whilst standing outside - clear sky. Worked fine pre upgrade). I've just upgraded the radio to .10 and it seems to have helped, but now the battery is taking a big hit! Would welcome any thoughts. The .09 radio gave great battery but .. dodgy GPS. The .10 radio great GPS and dodgy battery :-(

.09 (the one that comes in the kitchen as standard) I don't want to mess with diff radio versions yet, I'm new to the custom ROM scene.

Hi guys,

Quick query.

I sorted out my 8gb card, however when I turn on the phone now, the Modaco startup does not come up, it just goes from HTC white screen to a Black screen with Android on it.

Does this mean that the rom is now not fully installed?

Should I reflash the rom so that the Modaco startup screen shows again?

Thanks

which android image is it? the exclamation mark?

The rom is working (although I had to install flash 10.1 manually) but since I swapped my sd cards over the phone when I turn it on, loads into HTC Screen and then Android sign where before it started up with the Modaco custom boot up screen.

This has me thinking that when I put in the new card something was lost.

Maybe a re-flash would put it all right again, or does it not matter re the boot up screen?

I get the bootup screen that is the second to last pic on this link. Instead of the White Modaco bootup screen.

the link you posted didnt work.

what did you do to your sd card? when you installed the rom before, did you use apps2sd? If you trashed the card and deleted the partitions, you will have lost some important files if apps2sd was enabled during flashing as that will have put system files on the sd card ext partition, which it wont find if it's been removed.

If you are happy that your apps are still there and you're just missing the boot animation, you can push that manually or use an app to do it (i forget the name of it, the paid version looks like a waste of money as the previews of the paid bootscreens look awful in most cases)

If apps are now missing from your device then i'd start fresh..... First decide if you want apps2sd, apps2sd+ or froyoapps2sd. Configure your card according to your needs, bake a rom with the solution you want checked, then wipe + flash.

I might just re flash from scratch so that I know everything is working all ok.

New to the forum, having had my Desire 2 days. Its an originally Orange locked device with 0.83.0001 bootloader.

I've successfully rooted and installed a new ROM using this and this.

From what I see I think I'm going to plump for the kitchen subscription, but wanted to make sure that what I have done to the phone to date is the right platform to go forward using this custom ROM.

If so, do I just follow these instructions and use the generated ROM instead for step 3?

Really appreciate the time from whoever answers!

if you have rooted the phone and managed to get a ROM on, you've done all you need to do.

If you want to apply a new rom, i suggest (and recommend) you use ROM Manager from the market. This app will allow you to do EVERYTHING you need to from the phone itself, without having to mess with recovery menus. Using this app, you'd do the following:

1. bake a rom in the kitchen to your taste

2. download rom, put on sd card

3. start rom manager, select Install rom from sd, select your fresh baked rom (optionally backup current rom/wipe)

4. watch as the phone reboots into recovery, applies the rom and starts up again

if you also use titanium backup, you can save all your application/system applications/settings and restore them back to the newly applied rom.

ROM manager also has nice features to help you partition your card for apps2sd, restore backups etc.

how do i make my notification bar transparent without changing my other layout(i have a transparent pulldown bar and a Super Circle Battery mod), just the bar itself. For example like the current AuraxTSense ROM by Neophyte. I want the bar like that.

Thanks!

Stupid question folks but it's been a while since I've needed to do this:

Do we still *need* to use the goldcard to flash ROMs? it's been so long since I've done it. I remember the old method fine - it's just that things have changed substantially recently with the ability to access the bootloader without connecting to pc etc (which I did last time)! The issue is that I've simply used my old gold-card for doing this job in the past thinking it didn't matter either way.

Given I'm likely to be using this a *lot* now to perform the psfreedom hack on my device I'd much rather not have to switch SD cards all the time just to perform the hack (which will involve flashing).

If gold cards are still necessary is the website to create them still on the go as I'll need to convert my main SD card. I seem to remember they started charging?

Also is turning my main SD card into a goldcard likely to interfere in some way with my A2SD+ ext partition? (given it involves hex editing the drive and placing code at the begining......)

Thanks for getting me up-todate again all :-) my dyslexic eyes were starting to hurt with trying to find the recent information answers to my questions....

Edit: got to the bottom of my own problem and thought I'd post here to help other people who came through the Goldcard days with this question - In short No it is *not* necessary anymore!

Hi all

I applied this ROM yesterday. Installed some other apps, moved some apps to the sdcard. etc. Then used Titanium to create a backup on the card. All good.

Today I connected to the PC in order to backup the entire card and ..something happenned. :P . Now, the card refuses to mount in the phone. There is no longer the option of connecting as a drive when attaching via USB.

Putting the card in a Win7 cardreader, Win7 just asks to format the card.

chkdsk reports "The type of the file system is RAW.".

In future I will be much more careful about ensuring all apps are idle/shutdown before connecting to a PC. I have read [Froyo 2.2] A2SD corrupts FAT32 SD partition (Explanation for developers).

For the moment, my question is should I give up recovering and just format the card on the phone and reapply the ROM? or is it worth trying a PC partition recovery tool (which will probably take hours to run)?

cheers

bc
