Why would you want to flash an A2SD+ ROM then try to use Froyo APPS2SD? Just create an EXT partition, forget about ModInstallLocation, and let A2SD+ do its thing.

Trying to use A2SD+ and Froyo APPS2SD together causes the problems you are having.

Some software are updated for the Froyo.

it will be installed to SD FAT32 partition by default.

I don't want them to do that so I set the default installation location = 1.

let them always be installed to Interanl memery(EXT partition).

Actually I can not change the default install location for APP2SD of Froyo.

Some software, such as Google Sky Maps try to installed to SD FAT32 partition by default,

but it failed.

I don't know why.

It appears that if the default install location of software is External it will fail to install.

when I use 2.09.405.8-update-bravo-stock-rooted-busybox-withradio-signed everything is OK.

Just install Power Control Plus from the Market. It's cheap, awesome, and you can set it up however you like.

My understanding is that only the Cyno version allows you to directly switch between 2G and 3G.

Wipe BEFORE install not after!

P

Yes Paul, I did both a factory wipe/reset and cache wipe in recovery mode, BEFORE I installed the custom ROM. Is it possible the baking process went wrong somewhere? Anyway, I will do a wipe again and reinstall to see if it makes any difference. Otherwise, I will have to rebake.

Hey

dont know if its your or my fault but i downloadet the latest ROM from kitchen and added some things like Interactive/Powersave sheduler and other small things i always add before i flash your ROM....but ClockWordMod Recovery cant open the update package it says r8..........unsignedetc.zip (bad) so i extracted all the files and put it into a new zip ( not signed after ) and now this ZIP is bigger and i am able to flash it.

Maybe it was because i ZipModded it but it was unsigned before. Maybe u have a look at this if u understand me ;D

ok I have an odd one. You may recall I posted earlier about swapping my microsd for a 16gb version, which i couldn't work out how to partition, well i've now done that and upgraded to r8, put all my backups back and the phone is now back to normal.... however...

none of the ringtones/notifications on my sd are showing up in the default notification/tone lists. This was working before r8. Also, if i install one of the rcp ringtone packs, this completes, yet none of the sounds are showing in any of the default picker lists.....

I'm using apps2sd+, as I was before, so I'm confused as to why this isnt working now.... Does anyone know the default location for ringtones/notifications on the sd? maybe i have them in the wrong place

Look for Android System Info in market.

In it under System Tab under Environment you will find the directories it is finding for media.

Here's what i found it was pointing to according to System INfo.

Alarms >> /mnt/sdcard/Alarms

DCIM >> /mnt/sdcard/DCIM

Downloads >> /mnt/sdcard/Download

Movies >> /mnt/sdcard/Movies

Music >> /mnt/sdcard/Music

Notifications >> /mnt/sdcard/Notifications

Pictures >> /mnt/sdcard/Pictures

Podcasts >> /mnt/sdcard/Podcasts

Ringtones >> /mnt/sdcard/Ringtones

Here's a better Mirror @ MultiUpload

http://www.multiupload.com/ZNEC3WLFQ6

I'm still looking for a regular Smooth sense battery with white fonts, that doesn't kill my APN.

(apn Backup is a good one to have then)

Any chance for a r8 ROM without default MoDaCo additions and A2SD+ or an easy way to remove wavesecure, cant stand that program

Get a MoDaCo Ad Free or MoDaCo Plus account. Then you'll be able to use the online kitchen and customize your ROM as you want it.

Just set ModInstallLocation to Auto, or don't even use it, and let the OS/ROM do its thing. Problems come when you try to second-guess it.

I've got MIL on auto with A2SD+ and everything installs fine...Sky Maps included.

This is really strange. Ever since I flashed R8 WIP with A2SD+, I have never had to worry about storage space or where my apps are sitting. They all go to the SD-EXT as far as I know.

Anyone know what can cause such a behaviour?

Kiran

The best way is to download Titanium Backup from the Market and run a Batch mode backup of all user apps + system data.

Once you have wiped and flashed your new ROM, just ask Titanium Backup to restore all user apps + system data.

I have tried it once and it worked like a charm.

Which version of Google Maps (modified or unmodified) have you baked into your ROMs?

I have R8 running with the unmodified version and it works just fine.

My understanding is that only the Cyno version allows you to directly switch between 2G and 3G.

Yeah I just looked and Power COntrol PLus has a 2G/3G button but it just opens the relevant settings page for you to change it yourself, it doesn't instantly change the setting.

Indulge me though... if you're in 3G coverage why would you want to switch to 2G? 2G is slower and less power efficient, and also on a lot of networks (Network mode II, very common) you can't receive a call if you are actively transmitting and receiving on a GPRS connection.

Hi Paul,

By any chance this Sense based Froyo ROM would be getting the Power Control Widget like what's in CM6? It supports:

1) Brightness

2) Wifi

3) AP

4) Bluetooth

5) Mobile Data

6) Data Sync

7) Orientation

8) Silent/Vibrate/Ring

9) GPS

10) 2G/3G

11) etc ...

This is one of the main reason I remain on CM6 ;-)

Try QuickSettings form the Market

obvious? i didn't wipe since r4, only one factory reset and 2x repair permissions, so it's not that obvious for me

when using titanium backup, do NOT restore system data in batch modus, especially NOT sense settings

if you use additional mods for sense that modifiy the framework and/or settings, you might loose your scenes if you have to delete your restored system settings to get your phone working again

Not really sure about the Prebakes.

Perhaps Paul can come to your aid. Paul?

I use MySettings from Market.

Puts an entry in Status dropdown to acces a complete CommManager, but also this 2/3G brings you to system settings. BUt it's always accesible from everywhere in Status bar.

But this one looks nicer and also goes to Status bar.

Hey Guys,

I installed this rom earlier, but it's left me with only 73mb of internal storage.

Is there a way I can sort that out?

Also, I really don't want the sense stuff.

Ta.
