This build is hella buggy.

Going back to the first leaked 2.1

I tried , but the process ends with something along the lines of "Your software is up to date - device will reboot in 30 seconds" , and then it reboots

Errors out for me on emergency recovery (power plus volume buttons - triying to upgrade from the 6941 leak)

Verification failed (1 File)... ideas?

Thank you in advance.

whats the risk?

Anyone find that after rooting using Superroot method, the LED's under the Home, Back and Menu go off at random intervals.

It isnt really annoying, unlike when people flashed the EU ROM on the US models, but still I would like my LED's to stay on

They flash about 4/5 times and then just go out, this is after staying on for a few minutes.

Thanks,

They made it so we couldnt delete the screens. Now they are going to force you to use them!

At dell:

It seems people arent using all the home screens... hmmm.. lets make the icons and widgets bigger!

You can delete and add screens on the stock 1.6

Is it worth updating to this? I went back to 1.6 cos the last 2.1 was so weak.

You cant on 2.1, and the widgets are bigger, hence my comment. Frankly, multitouch is worth dealing with too many screens.

yes it is ok i have same as you after update mine still says EU but with 2.1 now

Yup, since this does not alter your baseband in any way.

Cheers guys, just flashed and testing now...

Ah right. Well ADW launcher rocks the big one, so that will sort out the number of columns and rows. I still think its worth waiting for stock froyo or at least a cyanogen port.

I don't think Cyanogen owns a Dell Streak. It is Paul on this forum that is the pioneer with the development.

Yeah... Good luck with that...

Without the kernel source it's pretty much impossible.

Unfortunately Paul does not share his knowledge so others can pick up,

and you need to wait whenever he has a mood to work on Streak.

Try using the universal root apk, no issues.

Seems to be working much better than previous build. 3g is much improved. Camera working better. Faster. Its a keeper!

I have a feeling, though, the browser is based on an older version of webkit

Hmm mixed reviews. The official update is due "early" sept so it could be early as this week! I think I'm gonna wait on this one.

BTW Greenarcher, it's a bit of a dick thing to put your paypal link with your post just because you downloaded a file.

I have an GAUSB1A111100 EU (bought from Dell germany) and if i try flashing with internal function (vol keys at boot) i got the "FOTA model mismatch" error. And i will wait for an update, which i can install with this offical method.

BTW my phone is from Dell and it is looking at http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A111100 for updates. I dont think offical updates come from zingstaging.com , i think this are beta version, but maybee im wrong and updates for carrier phones came from zingstaging.

That's your opinion, it would be a dick move if i was actually asking for money before sharing the file.

IT IS A ZIP FILE YOU NEED TO UNZIP IT FIRST TO GET THE PKG FILE

After installing this 8023 update.pkg does copying over the 'fixed' build.prop change the build number back to 6941??? Is it supposed to? Can we change it in the build.prop to reflect 8023, does it even really matter?

Sorry I just noticed it in the 'About Phone' section and made me wonder if the update worked until I checked the build.prop and it has a few reference lines of 6941.

Thanks.

Same thing happened to me. I might try to edit the build.prop again in the morning with the new build and baseband

I figured a lot of people want this instead of a nandroid backup so here you go. You're all welcome. Be aware that you will need to upload the fixed build.prop (recommended for US users) and change the boot animation (optional). Unpack the zip file and use stock recovery to flash this update.

My OEM version is GAUSB1A120521-US

Thank You much for sharing!

Working great on my Beta Streak.

Everything is much quicker.. even the unlock slider... than the previous build.

eh, I bit, flashed it... ADW takes care of the crappy Dell launcher... as for laggyness, its laggy on some translucent menu screens... other than that, ADW fixed the home screen lag... its speed is more than acceptable. as for a modified build.prop mentioned in the first post? where is it?
