Guest Semmy7 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 As I promissed a new batch of CFS kernels - built in: ext234, jfs, xfs, reiserfs, btrfs, - built in CPU governors: smartass, ondemand, performance, powersave, conservative - built in IO sched: bfq, cfq, deadline, anticipatory and noop (*) - Undervolted : Sub501 undervolt and sysfs vdd patch (*) - Overclocked (use Sub501 init mods, Sub501 manager support coming soon). To protect your phone, the default max freq is 1Ghz. You can use Sub501 init mods to change this. - Various patches and optimizations : the bundle contain 4 releases. (*) Sub501Manager can be used to config that feature. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10553163/android/t...fs-20100124.zip I can not understand why, but I can not boot system with any of the 4 new kernels... Returned to the 5-Kernel-CFS. My ROM is baadnwz v1.8b (dhd-based).
Guest Sub501 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 And I was so waiting for the BFS too. Thanks anyway Subs, will try tomorrow Second batch with bfs this evening. Have u tried cfs? Now cfs is my choice.
Guest snapilica Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Second batch with bfs this evening. Have u tried cfs? Now cfs is my choice. Actually i can agree with you. Never mind the benchmarks but in real life OS performance and app performance CFS does seem faster than BFS... and less laggy and more responsive and GPS apps like iGO do seem snappier than with BFS.

Guest Sub501 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I will try lzma compress or to move some filesys to modules

Guest Sub501 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) I used the CFS and think BFS more responsive. But I going to flash you CFS now. Could you say diffs cna/cnu/cvu/cva kernels? A little confused There is at least one app (navigation software) which perform awful under BFSl (trust me, more than visible, slow map, slow menu navigation). Snapilica can confirm this. I will not say the name of the app here just because it is not fair and it is not the app fault. Regarding kernel codenames, I will let you know after I got some feedback. For the moment I cannot tell which one is better. I just launched a blind test campaign (see post #1). All the kernels have the same features (modules, governors) but each one has some specific optimizations. Edited January 25, 2011 by Sub501

Guest Semmy7 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 ... P.S. Can't boot with any new kernel. ... I've never modified the stock partition tabla and I have the same problem...
Guest snapilica Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I think it's because we asked him to include in the kernel so many filesystems. Either he will eliminate some filesystems and move them back as a module or maybe he could try lzma. Either way i think these new kernels are too big to fit in the boot partition of the phone.
Guest Sub501 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 So, what filesystems do you need in the kernel? For now we have ext234, xfs, btrfs, nilsfs, jfs, reiserfs and ntfs with write support (I think ntfs is not needed). In the previous kernels only extfs were builtin.
