just freed about 10MB of internal storage by putting /data/local (bootanimation.zip, fonts, a few binaries like nmap)

to sd (beneath /data/app, /data/dalvik-cache, /data/app-private)

modified pauls 40a2sd init-script

to do the job

further now i can use the unused space on ext2/3 partition as /data/sdext (which gives me back 700MB from 1GB)

First of all..

Thanks for all the hard work!

I think this release is almost perfect but one thing is really annoying me, the auto-mms-"feature"..

I don't know if its even possible but i would love a patch to the built in sms-program that blocks the autoconverting to mms.

It-s really irritating to only have the possibility to write 480 characters when a 30$ phone manage 1600

Waiting for the following before upgrading from R8:

  • Based on 2.10 OTA
  • Google Maps etc fixed

I have all the dual governor, undervolt and CFQ modules flash from sub's thread - so there's little reason for me to upgrade to R9 yet.

Any idea when it's going to be based on 2.10 Paul? Looking forward to your reply on Monday/some time next week.

Enjoy your weekend :P

I'm having the same issue. no Google maps (or Navigation) on the device after tflashing r9 from today (sept. 10)

+ 1

I cannot also install from market (error when installing)

I experienced this problem when R8 was WIP after Paul updated Google Maps to 4.4.0, and although I could install from market, it dissapeared after rebooting. Fixed after a wipe. But with R9 this procedure doesn't work.

Mate.....

on behalf of all the PS3 owners....

put in some kind of module in the kitchen to enable the psfreedom hack in your ROM..

I did it with opendesire...but that rom is a pain compared to yours.

But WE really need to unlock teh potential of our PS3 via our desires.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

THANK YOU PAUL!!!!!!!!!!!

Paul. I have flashed r9 a couple of times now and keep getting the same issues.

1: Bluetooth is no longer working as it did in the last r9 release, I use headphones with controls and the volume works but nothing else.

2: circlemod battery theme just shows whatever percentage you started the phone with

Looking forward to seeing if the next release fixes these.

re: Maps, it's a problem with the signatures in the packages xml. I'm working on a fix for those having issues.

Mh I ended up w/ teeter on my phone even though I unchecked the box. Same applies for dev tools

Paul, can you add the customization section in the kitchen?

Like, having the tick/untick place for default battery/supercircle/etc, black bar/white bar/transparent bar, transparent notification bar with android/etc....

I'd stick to your guns personally Paul, keep it as 'Stocky' as possible with under the hood tweaks, leave the noddy gfx mods and oc stuff to those on xda :)

K

I totally agree.

Thanks for this Paul, your hard work is much appreciated mate :P

Keep up the good work!!

The thing I'm noticing is that Bluetooth playback works sufficiently less good than in the stock ROMs, at times.

For one thing, it's a bit embarassing when your phone suddenly plays your music out loud even though the Bluetooth device is still connected, and then switches back again to your headset. And sometimes it doesn't switch back.

I'm not really able to reproduce the situation, but there's a couple of indicators:

  • The phone never connects phone audio to the device, only ever media audio.
  • It does sometimes look like a load problem to me - that when the device is under increasing CPU/IO load, it starts stuttering and eventually loses the Bluetooth connection (maybe due to being forced to sleep?)

Paul I think youve commented previously that you werent planning to release an odexed rom due to their being no real difference in performance but from what I can gather I will get around 40-50 extra mb internal space with an odexed rom so is there any chance of you releasing that version? I just cant fit my apps into 87mb and with a2sd being buggy I cant risk using it

Just a quick question when going from r8 to r9:

Is it recommended to do a full wipe/clean cache, or is it OK to install r9 on top on r8?

Since it's the same base, I think it's ok to install the R9 over the old one.

Do a backup, install the R9 without wipe and if something goes wrong, reflash with wipe and restore all. But I don't think it's necessary

I've not tried before but it seems you're right, I had it on stock and worked fine, but now it crashes...

Hey Paul,

is there any chance of you fixing the HTC russian keyboard bug, where it types an exclamation mark instead of space?

It would be great to have it fixed in r9 :P

So, where are we now ? What works and what didn't with the R9 ? I want to make the update but I'm not sure about what to do... Is Google Maps working now ? Can we also install the new Street View from the Market after that ?

And of course, thanks Paul for your great work on those Roms !
