Can I bake the ROM, then extract it, and only flash the Smooth theme in recovery?? Or what's the easiest way to install just the Smooth theme for r9?

Hi Paul,

"Trackpad Wake with Power" option is not selectable anymore in the kitchen

Paul,

Would you consider putting the patched Android EMail.apk which allows circumventing of Exchange Policies into R9?

Regards,

Kiran

Hmm, that's the stock email. Would it be better to patch HTC's email in the same way?

Could be tricky as I don't have an exchange account to test with however.

Hi Paul,

I have used the instructions on this XDA Thread to patch the Mail.apk on my R8 and it has been working for me very well.

I think it would be really useful to include a Mail.apk patched using this method as an option in Kitchen.

Regards,

Kiran

+1

Otherwise, the last few releases have been absolutely superb. I haven't experienced a single issue/problem in my use. Thanks!

Interesting... any reason everyone wouldn't want to use a patched version?

I have no need for the patched client since the stock client works perfectly (I don't use Exchange, just Hotmail Activesync and Gmail).

weird thing happened here after installing r9, multitouch visualizer works fine, but multitouch in googlemaps or the pitch-zoom-out in homescreen doesn't work.

It is an option I would be interested in. Keeping it as an option would be best as where I don't want features, I'd prefer to keep it as stock as possible.

So a vote for including it, but as an option.

It's not odexed, yes you can, be careful you don't run out of space tho (it may happen).

Nandroid first basically.

Hi Paul,

I only partitioned once and then upgraded it to EXT3 so I should only have one partition.

I've downloaded Quick System Info and found that the A2SD is working. But for some reason I've only got 60MB of internal storage free. When I flashed the ROM (after a wipe) I had about 90MB. I'm wondering why this is so low as I baked a fairly light ROM. I was previously using nextsense which gave me 130MB free space on a fresh install and never dipped below 100MB.

Just to add that apart from this issue I love r9

internal storage = 148MB if unused

look at /data/ and there every subdirectory minus app, app-private (and dalvik-cache if you have a2sd+)

du -h in the subdirectories shows you how much internal storage is used

you should be able to sum up and get your 148MB - x = 60MB

then look what you can live without especially in /data/data, /data/local

do you need a bootanimation.zip with 5MB? maybe you have fonts installed you do not need? google earth leaves data in /data/data

adobe libs in /data/data eat inernal storage, dolphin browser brings his own flash libs, .....

even with a2sd there will always be something in /data/data

there are apps that leave there data there even if uninstalled and you restore that with titanium backup (if you do a non-selective restore)

btw: 90MB would be good even 60MB what do you want to use nand memory else for? its not RAM, this is extra.

Thanks again Paul for your hard work. Brilliant so far. I've been a bit out of the loop lately. When clicking wave secure says something about outside us licences. Any ideas please?

Thanks again

Edit:- Forget that rebooted phone and fine now thankyou.

I've read some of you have issues connecting bluetooth headsets... Mine works perfectly, but there's no icon indicating that it's connected... Any thoughts? (I use the circle E rev.1 framework)

Paul, what about using the volume up and down keys (long pushing them) for changing switching music titles when the music app is active? Would be very nice since my desire is always in a bag..

Would anyone be able to confirm (either way) whether the latest OTA update to fix the secondary Google account syncing has been added to R9 yet? Can't seem to find that info anywhere.

Cheers!

Thanks woti17 this explains. Therefore /data/data content limits the amount of apps that can be installed through the amount of data they want to store in /data/data.

So why not link /data/data to e.g. /system/sd/data ? Is it because it is not desirable that some system apps would depend on the presence of external storage?

well, don't try it doesn't work, i think paul posted here sometimes ago it is accoused to permissions thing.

i got /data/local to /system/sd/local (ext3) which frees me the alternate 5MB of bootanimation.zip and that what the additional fonts i have need

(well actually i have /data/local to /data/local1 symlink and /data/local/data1 symlink to /system/sd/local1 to easy restore a real /data/local directory)

also you could put binaries like bash, openvpn etc if you have, to /data/local/bin i think, but havent tried
