Simply include friendstream.

i cant d/load it off market, and i dont wanna have to do another bake, simply cause every time i do another bake i have to do a wipe and i loose all my data and settings. Is it even friend stream that is causing it.

Thanks for the help guys, I ended up using Titanium Backup to uninstall and delete QuickOffice and a couple of other things.

R9 niggles...

I'd been using R8 for a while and decided the weekend was time to have a go at R9.

I've noticed that the new widgets don't appear after the flash. This is after full wipe, very rare that I don't wipe when upgrading. They don't appear after clearing Sense cache/data, or after a re-flash.

Battery life is worse than R8, down to 71% since unplugging it 12hrs ago, have only made one 2 minute phone call! This is with the new governors in place as well.

Has Browser.apk been updated? Its worse now than it was before. I mentioned in previous threads about the browser crashing when visiting some web pages including the BBC website. Now it crashes more often, notably at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...v_1/default.stm - I was trying to see how badly Norwich were getting on  but it just crashes, every time.

Overall I'm very pleased and thankful for all Paul's hard work but it looks like I'll be going back to R8 unless I get some time to play about.

@Paul,

I feel like someone probably has already asked this but I can't seem to find it in the thread. Are you thinking about integrating the new HTC Sense into this r9 or any future Custom Roms?

Thnx

I did the same as yourself, using ROM manager, full wipe etc. One thing i did after I rebooted, was to uninstall Flash (10.1.92.8 version included in the ROM), reboot then download flash from the Market (10.1.92.10). Since doing that, BBC is working fine. I had the crash issue with BBC in r8 so am v pleased!

I don't have the governors installed, kept to SetCPU.

Battery life though...62%, have received 2 phone calls, a couple of mins each, sent one text and two emails, plus read a couple of articles for 5 mins. I've given up expecting good battery life, I have it constantly charging on my PC at work.

Just curious, with Peep removed, are you able to sync your Twitter Contacts onto your HTC People widget?

I have been keeping Peep on just for that one reason since others had reported problems.

Is it possible to just add ONE component from the "oven" and install it manually without having to "rebake"?

Thanks Bashy, tried the Flash thing, didn't work for me

I notice that in the AuraxTSense ROM over on XDA that the browser.apk in there is 1.1MB whereas it is 765K'ish in R9 (and R8), might try a bit of grafting...

Ah shame, maybe because you're looking up Norwich, try the mighty Rochdale

Maybe do a full wipe and after the first wipe...wipe again. No joke, my bro-in-law does this on his HD2, he swears by it!

Am sure you'll get it sorted. It's all part of the fun.

The Norwich bit was poking a bit of fun @Paul :), I was really looking up Ipswich

Isn't the HD2 a WinMoan device? I'd say he swears AT it!

That ROM is built on the 2.10 source, it may have a newer version of the browser APK, but paul is working on updating the base source

Yes it is.

Rebake with just the added friendstream, no need to whipe.

Thanks, just doing a flash with that other browser.apk and the latest flash as a test.

[Edit] Still fails on same page after re-flash with new browser.apk and Flash

As I wrote before - this is OK, however I would do that in steps:

1. Update to 2.10

2. Update HTC Sense

This is because porting new Sense could lead to bugs which we are not aware yet and not everyone wants to have new Sense until it will be stable :)...

and what was always motto of Pauls' ROM is stability and being as close to stock as possible.

  • Phase 1 of later versions merge. This includes the majority of changes from 2.10. More to follow from other new versions. Note that this update also suppresses the OTA update warning.

That explains why you don't see the crash - the Premier League page works fine :)
