Guest BashyUK Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) 20/Sep 17:00 BSTPhase 1 of later versions merge. This includes the majority of changes from 2.10. More to follow from other new versions. Note that this update also suppresses the OTA update warning. Gah, I just updated to r9 last night! Well I know what's happening this weekend again  I keep telling myself to wait for the final r9 (which is when btw?) but the temptation is too strong! A Gooner too, top man! Guest Tobias Rydholm Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Did you include the "smooth theme"? I have tried that several times, and every time I've been stuck at the HTC logo. When I exclude it it works fine. Right now I'm in big trouble because of this. I accidently forgot to exclude it, and the phone got stuck. I then wiped the dalvik cache and every other wipeable thing in recovery mode, and then ran a backup. This resulted in that the camera did no longer works, neither does the google sync, and worst of all, the market app keeps on crashing. I have flashed a couple of different roms since, and still the same problem. Now I've reflashed the radio, and a new rom, but now the phone constantly sais "loading" once I've entered my pin. Is this the time to buy a new phone perhaps...? Ok, so this wasn't the time to buy a Desire HD after all. I have now flashed a R9 Rom without A2SD, and now the phone works again, thank god. I guess I'll have to re-partition my SD with a new ext3, and then give A2SD+ another go. Is there anyone who have succeded installing Smooth Theme?
Guest Entreated Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) Now that this ROM is based on the 2.10 source, it seems a little more snappy, particularly on menu popup. Don't know if it is a placebo but it does seem generally a bit better This was the first thing i noticed as well.. The menu loads and performs much more efficiently.. This in itself is a major improvment xD EDIT: "Added the 'Smooth' theme (without battery percentage), kindly contributed by Jercik." The smooth theme, is this just automatically added when it's baked or is there some way to activate it, have never used a theme before so i have no idea. Edited September 20, 2010 by Entreated

I get the OTA update warning part, but what is this 2.10 you speak of?
Guest skinnypupp Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Should we wipe with each upgrade? What if we bake a new rom that is missing components that were in the original baked rom? Would those be deleted? Thanks
Guest Paul.. Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Just updated from R8 to R9 without any issues (*touch wood*). My R8 install was very solid but wanted the OTA upgrade for the Gmail issue. It seems to have fixed the problem for my three regular Gmail accounts but my Google Enterprise Apps account isn't pushing email still. I don't believe this is a problem with this ROM - it's more endemic to this version of Froyo - but has anyone else had luck syncing multiple Gmail accounts using R9, including an Enterprise Apps email? (bit of a specific question I know, but thought I'd ask!)
Guest dodolom Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 (edited) @Paul, Hey Paul, I've just installed this keyboard below a few days back http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779689 which worked just fine with the latest Rom at the time, meaning the first ROM on September 17th. Today I've installed your very latest ROM and I keep on getting a Force Close. Any idea why this might be happening? Something not compatible maybe? thnx in advance EDIT: BAKED A NEW ROM AND IT'S ALL GOOD NOW. Edited September 21, 2010 by dodolom
Guest M4st3r_ITA Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 It would be great if in any baked rom, depending which additions/mods/etc we've selected, we could find a txt file in the zipped baked rom that lists its contents (software installed and version)
Guest BashyUK Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Hi, Quick q: If I have SetCPU already do I need any of Sub501's options? UPDATE: Left those options out for now, r9 seems to be running faster for me but then again, I was more selective with data restored from TB. When's this release to be made final, what's the usual timeline? Bump on the query as a mate wants his phone rooting and a ROM to improve battery life. Shall I select all subs options or just governors? Ta.
Guest htcnick Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Hi, One thing I would like to see added is on the old Android 2.1 version if u got a txt message u get a notification on the screen below the clock when the phone was asleep. It use to show the senders name and some of the txt message. Nick.

Get the error "a server error has acurred retry, or cance and return to the previous screen How can i fix this problem? Same here. Full wipe was performed and I have tried clearing data for market. Hitting "retry" a few times works eventually...
Guest Paul Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I've had this on a non MCR device last night and this morning, I guess there is some intermittent Google problem... P
Guest TheUntouchable Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Same here. Full wipe was performed and I have tried clearing data for market. Hitting "retry" a few times works eventually... That has nothing to do with the Rom. I have the same problem with r8 the last days
Guest LouiS22 Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I've had this on a non MCR device last night and this morning, I guess there is some intermittent Google problem... P Now it's ok.
Guest logicalextreme Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Should we wipe with each upgrade? What if we bake a new rom that is missing components that were in the original baked rom? Would those be deleted? Thanks I believe it's good practice to wipe with each upgrade -- as long as you perform a full Titanium Backup beforehand (and Nandroid backup too, of course, just in case), you should be ready to roll once you've booted into the new version and restored the backups. As for removing things -- as far as I can tell, yes, the components will simply not be available. As far actual DELETION per se I would assume so, if you do a full wipe beforehand then no packages should remain behind on the phone. I've played around with the r8 one, removing and adding Maps and Sense and boot animations, and not had many issues. Where I have had issues it's been with market applications that I have just had to either redownload or download a different version of.
Guest Grobie Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 since the last rom my market, downloads do not work. Get the error "a server error has acurred retry, or cance and return to the previous screen How can i fix this problem? Had the same problem this morning, but its working again. Think the market server was down. Grobie
Guest logicalextreme Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 That has nothing to do with the Rom. I have the same problem with r8 the last days I've had this issue since I got my Desire! O2's 2.1 ROM, stock 2.1 rooted, stock 2.2 rooted and all r8 ROMs. It's just part of the Market "experience" for me now.
