Guest daniozzo83 Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Aaaaah, I think I ran that on the r8 WIP and didn't do it again with r8 final. Cheers! i run it every new rom i bake and upgrade! (remember to run at least 1 time market before run marketspeedup)
Guest Barbs80 Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Any one been experiencing slow down issues with R9 with the extra governor settings? Been running it for about a week and usually get my phone grinding to an unusable speed a couple of times a day? Never had a problems with any previous bake - I'm not running setcpu. Request for future feature: Any chance of patching the default email app to be able to read HTML emails for the newly released Hotmail Activesync? Works for other phones but Android reads txt only  I know i shouldn't need a hotmail account any more but I've had it for about 15 years and I can't let it go!
Guest bbawden Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I personally don't bother with a wipe between ROMs, and have never had an issue.
Guest Noonski Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I personally don't bother with a wipe between ROMs, and have never had an issue. +1 here, unless i do something stupid myself
Guest inigoml Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I've rebaked with today R9 but no reboot option appears in shutdown menu... Is a wipe required? Or only by deleting HTC sense data or any other app from Settings->Apps menu? Thanks in advance.
Guest htcnick Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 (edited) i need some major help i installed r9 without friends stream and it kept trying to sync nothin, I was to do another install with just friend stream and the core stuff. I did that and know my phone wont load. It just stays at the android load screen and does nothin. I can get into the recovery by pushing the down volume and power button at the red !!! mark, but i wont let me re install the intial r9 rom i baked. can i please get some help. edit: i just worked out a way to start my phone, but it is a complete black screen once unlocked except for the status bar up the top. If i turn it off it wont turn back on unless i do a user wipe from the recovery, which i can enter as stated above. Weirdly i still recieve emails from gmail. and view it. but then it goes back to the home screen which is blacked out. if usb is plugged in i can also view the sd card. Is there a way to open an app on the phone from the pc or something that was i can open rom manager and do a update from sd and fix it. Edited September 21, 2010 by htcnick
Guest vfrvulcan Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 (edited) R9 niggles... I'd been using R8 for a while and decided the weekend was time to have a go at R9. I've noticed that the new widgets don't appear after the flash. This is after full wipe, very rare that I don't wipe when upgrading. They don't appear after clearing Sense cache/data, or after a re-flash. Battery life is worse than R8, down to 71% since unplugging it 12hrs ago, have only made one 2 minute phone call! This is with the new governors in place as well. Has Browser.apk been updated? Its worse now than it was before. I mentioned in previous threads about the browser crashing when visiting some web pages including the BBC website. Now it crashes more often, notably at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...v_1/default.stm - I was trying to see how badly Norwich were getting on  but it just crashes, every time. Overall I'm very pleased and thankful for all Paul's hard work but it looks like I'll be going back to R8 unless I get some time to play about. Aaron OK, done some more testing and re-baking using the new base posted by Paul last night. New widgets do now appear, no reason as to why they didn't before. Battery life is restored to how it was in R8, now at 88% after 12hrs and lots of playing with browsers. Browsers: what a nightmare! I've got a couple of pages on the BBC website that I'm using to check if the browser is working properly. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...v_1/default.stm http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-10992762 These pages continually crash the app and return to Sense. Several of us are getting p'd off with it happening all the time with a lot of pages, not just these and not just on the BBC site. I did some testing this morning and found that R9 is not the only ROM to have issues. Can someone with stock T-Mo 2.2 or other stock 2.2 ROMs please check the above. My testing with the browser.apk lifted from other ROMs, doing a clear cache/clear data/uninstall before rebooting was as follows: MoDaco R9: Both pages crash, APK size 733K Cyanogen Nightly Build: Force Close on open, APK size 377K Defrost1.5: Both pages crash, APK size 450K DJDroid1.1: Both pages crash, APK size 1.06MB OpenDesire4023: Force Close on open, APK size 377K MoDaCo R18/21/3.1: Fails to install[/codebox] So, there are many different sizes and builds of the browser.apk - I'd just like to find one that works stably. I don't want to install a 3rd party browser like Dolphin as I like the re-flow feature and don't want continual 'complete the action with...' pop-ups happening. It's the only thing preventing me from leaving the laptop at home! Flash is latest 10.1.95.1 released yesterday. Aaron Edited September 21, 2010 by vfrvulcan

But the strange thing is I used to get it across the BBC regardless of link but now it's just the ones above (although I have never clicked on Kent before). Also running the latest Flash. Stock ROM issue confirmed with mate on Voda who got OTA 2.2 update few weeks ago. When I logged with HTC a few weeks ago they said it was BBC's issue and not for them to sort as other sites work.
Guest tuatha Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I was getting loads of browser crashes using a rooted stock rom. A few websites were causing it and the BBC was definitely one of them. The second link above is causing my browser to crash. I'm using the latest MCR release. No crash if I change plugins to on-demand.

Guest Grobie Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 HI Animated Flip HTC Sense Clock (Desire HD Port) I installed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785645 on r9 working great sofar. Nice animation of the clock but still a couple of bugs that must be sorted. Will be nice to have it part of r9/r10? when all the bugs is out. Grobie

As for battery life, lol, I kill my phone...unplugged this morning at 6AM, 1 hr of music on the commute, a good few emails sent, few mins on FB, syncing of Friendstream, 30+ mins browsing, connected to wireless at work for last few hours, few texts all equals battery now at 26%. This is with SetCPU taking the CPU to min when the screen is off. Edited September 21, 2010 by BashyUK

Guest vfrvulcan Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 As I've just found, change to on-demand and the page load without the Flash so it looks like its a Flash issue. And it appears to be a known bug at Android: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9086 fails in exactly the same way as pages referenced earlier. @Paul, they have an un-released fix posted on that page - is there anything you can do with it? Guest BashyUK Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I know I keep asking this but it's just that the q gets crowded out: I just need to know a) which sub501 options to use in relation to trying to improve battery life and  if those options are compatible with running SetCPU at the same time.
Guest Kiran J. Holla Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 How the bollocks do you get such good battery performance? Mine's at 71% after 4 hours, a little browsing, 30 minutes of music and maybe 15 minutes of VNC activity. I have noticed that browsing with WiFi drains little battery. However, the same browsing with 3G/H drains the battery like crazy! Hence, I stick to WiFi whenever I can and use 3G/H only when on the move. Regards, Kiran
Guest logicalextreme Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 By using it as a phone and email/browsing device :) Its the music thats killing the battery. I occasionally play Jewels but 5 mins of playing is 2-3% of battery :( Christ! To be honest I think that we're never going to pin down exactly what's going on with these things. I play it for 30 minutes on the way to work, and when I get to work the battery is somewhere between 95% and 100%. It seems to start draining immediately after that.

I had JuiceDefender handling that for me but unfortunately since Froyo it leaves H on all the time, and only disables it when Wifi's enabled! I believe Latedroid is working on that though

Hi, You can use 'Custom governor settings' only. And of course 'Disable perflock' . Some peoples are complaining about undervolt. So I don't recommend it in a first step.

Guest flamejim Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I'm having mayor problems logging into the wirreless network at home and at work at work its a linksys (WRT320N I believe) and at home is a netgear (wgr614 v9). Because he says that the network has a different password and when i enter it the same as my windows computer it still says that!... It's quite a buggy problem wich was solved with the new OTA update because I installed it once (didn't do anything noticiable though but fix the wirreless problem..). But I reinstalled paul's mod the newest 20 sep... And the same problem arose once again. Kind Regard..
