Sorry, no disrespect to you or anyone else, I've no idea where bootcomplete.bravo.rc comes from but I've been using Paul's ROMs since I converted to Android and considered him to be the one who brings it all together in the neatest fashion.

I don't pretend to understand Linux or ADB, I just appreciate it when it falls into place.

its in boot.img in the last rom and in the r9 s before, it does what an poster above does and i did manual in adb

changes the ownership of the android browser cache to the the ownership of the directory from the android default browser

something seems to go wrong because something sets it to owner root and browser cannot write to cache

sorry, but i m only interessted in helping to get the browser cache working, this is an issue at least from r5 on

someone problems with friendstream?

after instaling R9 rom (20th sep) friendstram updated once, but from this moment on nothing happened. I am using FS only for facebook, so don't know if flickr etc. is working.

If I update manually it last only a few seconds - without any updates.

the normal facebook-app is working fine.

has someone an idea?

thanks a lot!

Groovy. I plugged the phone in, ran adb shell and just renamed the Gmail.apk in /system/app. Rebooted and the update installed.

Err, not sure what I did wrong (right?) but I just installed the 2.3 version from the market without deleting/renaming/pushing anything. Installed and ran up fine. Only one Gmail icon - reporting v2.3 in the 'about' screen. Almost seemed too simple - have I buggered something up? :-)

Why /system rw is not added to kitchen? NeoPhyTe use it on his AuraxtSense and works well.

Those shots of the new Sense UI look like mine, which was modded with EspressoMod. Not sure if there are any other major differences than it's all straight instead of curved?

Hi guys,

yesterday I upgraded from r8 to r9 WIP, using A2SD+ all the time.

I used r8 + espresso mod before, then upgraded and now it boots in circles.

During first boot it builds up its dalvik cache, then afterwards does a reboot and enters this circle.

Judging from logcat output during that phase, it moans about missing/unknown permissions on almost all core apps. Any hint to fix it? I did a nandroid before so I reverted but given I never had issues in the past, I was wondering if it either is a known issue or at least something to fix easily.

Btw. Starting the update again after restoring the backup leads to same result so at least from that point it's reproducable

I am using r9 (with A2SD+) and espresso-mod, too - without problems.

before I used r8 (with A2SD+) + espresso 2.1 and updated to r9 also without problems.

you could try the new espresso version 2.2 (before updating to r9), which also based on 2.10 like r9 now.

Are you adding the mod directly into the ROM or flashing it afterwards?

Soem people mentioned flashing the normal rom first, then after 5 minutes or so do a reboot into OS.

And then flash Bat Mods and such.

Can you post/mirror your Mod?

@Paul

Maybe I missed it but Gmail ain't a selectable app anymore

(as it was when there where two versions to choose from)

As it's now a up-datable Market Item anyway. Having it as an option might be an idea.

I exclude it now, so future updates won't bug me with fails)

I tried both options, no success either way, will now do a fresh setup and restore apps from titanium then

The short version of the 'browser cache' problem... it needs a patch to libwebcore.so, which is a version customised for HTC and we don't have the source, so I don't think I can fix this atm.

Hi, there are a few things I'd like to know.

1. I have issues sending files to BB users but sending to Nokia or the PC isn't a problem. How can I solve this?

2. When I use the dialer using Sense UI, unless the number is exactly how it's stored in my contacts the name doesn't

show up but on Stock Android, the Android contacts doesn't have that issue at all.

3. Using the Stock Android UI, my SMS messages have the correct time stamp and I no longer require Handcent,

however, on the Sense UI, it's about an hour ahead. I've tried a time correcting program but that doesn't work after a while.

4. I'll probably be stabbed for asking this but I've noticed that DeFroST has a setup app where you can check for updates

and download extras. Paul, do you think you can have an app like that for your ROMs? At least for the people who paid

as that would defeat the whole purpose of locking the kitchen for non-paying persons.

This might be a stupid question but why do I get Installation Unsuccessful error when I try to download+install Gmail 2.3 from the market?

I know I can just bake the latest ROM but I'd rather just install it from the market.

Any help would be appreciated.

sorry not to have a solution but I can confirm that I did manage to download and install 2.3 without an issue from the market. Was actually surprised it worked so easily! Not sure why though, and was even more surprised to see I only had that version and not two copies (2.2 and 2.3).

Read this thread, about 1 or 2 pages back.

Well, it actually is not giving me the option of UPDATE. It just says INSTALL on the market and when I try to do so, it downloads fine but does NOT install it.

I had to use adb to manually remove the gmail.apk. After doing this, it would install from the Market.

Well, I don't know much about ADB commands, I suppose I will just bake a new ROM. What's new in the Gmail 2.3 anyway? I heard that it has the PRIORITY feature. Anything else worth updating?

Appreciate your efforts Paul. Guess we need to pester HTC for a fix then.

Last time I contacted them it took 69 days to reply, hopefully this time it will be quicker!

There have been a few ways of getting the latest app, almost all mentioned earlier in this thread.

Since the app is part and parcel of the ROM image and in /system/app Paul kindly provided the APK earlier in this thread (last night I believe) for you to download and ADB PUSH to that location.

Others have either had success with the update without doing anything or have also suggested removing gmail.apk from /system/app via ADB and then installing from the market which I believe results in it installing to /data/app but don't quote me on that.

Remember when doing anything via ADB and accessing the /system folder, DO THIS FROM RECOVERY or you wont have RW access.
