Guest bpivk Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) I believe the new HTC Desire and Z features will be in the next official rom release (possibly Gingerbread) if you can wait.Do you have any proof to back those claims? Don't jump to conclusions too fast. Google mentioned something about not needing any more launchers in Gingerbread because they are supposedly working on theirs which will eliminate the need for other launchers. I highly doubt that we'll get the new sense on Gingerbread. We'll either get one or the other but I doubt that we'll get both at the same time (eg. Android 3.0 + New Sense). Thats assuming that we'll get anything at all. Edited November 14, 2010 by bpivk
Guest hnos Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Hey Installed r9 yesterday and I havea bit of a problem.... It seem that I cant make any calls with it. It says that I dont have a simcard in the phone. I downloaded r9 3 times and reinstalled it several times but its always the same. At the end I had to use recovery to return to r8 where everything works fine. Hope someone can help
Guest Arty Marty Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 can anyone help with mms. The mms will send but it always shows up on my end as pending or as still trying to send when in fack it has sent, and usually as a result i will send it a few times cause im not sure if it got sent or not. Anyone else got this prob. I had a problem like that when I forgot to make sure that the APN settings were right for my carrier - you need to go to network settings, and make sure they match up with what your carrier requires (most likely by calling their support desk or looking at their website) Hope this helps.. Warmly, Marty PS> if you are on Telstra in Australia, the settings are: Wireless and networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. Telstra Internet APN: telstra.wap Proxy: 10.1.1.181 Port:80 MMS Protocol: 2.0 MCC:505 MNC:01 Auth: CHAP APN: default Telstra MMS APN: telstra.mms MMSC: http://mmsc.telstra.com:8002 MMS Proxy: 10.1.1.181 Port: 80 MMS protocol: WAP 2.0 MCC: 505 MNC: 01 Auth: CHAP APN Type: mms The APN Type strings need to be input manually.

Use Aps2sd+ the 'normal' partition on the SD card lakes a little while to mount, and mounts AFTER the phone has started - that is why you cant have widgets etc moved to SD. If you use apps2sd+ however, that uses its own partition just for apps, and mounts almost instantly, so you can what ever apps you want there. not only that, but it moves them there automatically (whether the app developer has made it possible or not), so you don't even have to worry about it...)

Guest fireblade84 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 where is the bootanimation root in r9? i've inserted a bootanimation in data/local but it doesn' appear at startup
Guest logicalextreme Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Pure Grid Calendar Widget - Paid app OR Android Agenda - Free app Thanks! I've tried Pure and it didn't work how i'd like it to; and I've used Agenda before but was after the grid view. LP is the only one that really nails it but it's no bother. Thanks for the recommendations!
Guest logicalextreme Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I keep getting "E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)" and "E:signature verification failed" when i try to install the ROM using ROM manager. Is anything wrong with the ROM? What should I do? Thanks in advance for all the help. Flash ClockworkMod recovery with ROM Manager, then boot into it. Then look through the options to disable signature verification. Alternatively rebake and choose to sign the zip, which will also allow you to flash from stock recovery; but as it says in the kitchen it's nicer to the servers to leave it unsigned. The other option is to research signing zips yourself.
Guest logicalextreme Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Not sure if anyone remembers, but way up in this thread I mentioned problems using Google Goggles past v1.0. It was up to v1.2 by then and still gave a FC on my MoDaCo ROMs, so I left it at 1.0 and detached it from the Market. Well today I had that odd issue where the Market application forgets most of the stuff you have installed, so I cleared my Market data and cache and saw that Goggles had of course reattached. I checked the latest version before detaching it and saw that it had been updated since 1.2, so updated my copy and gave it a whirl. Voila! Google haven't fixed the exception but are actually handling it now, along with support information that fingers the culprit as the removal of the ipv6 module! Quite why the application could possibly require ipv6 to be present (I know it works with it present but unused) I don't know, but I'm guessing it's an integration bug that they can't be bothered fixing as they don't officially support rooted/modified ROMs. So I hope this helps anyone else having the same problem. Not sure if i'll leave ipv6 in next time I bake just to get Goggles working, but if I do I'll report back.

I use a different kernel and it still doesn't open so I suspect you're right about the script. Thanks very much for the command! I'll report back when I have a chance to use it.
Guest Hal06 Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Hi Shiva, see comments in line: I've been trying to find a replacement for HTC People as well. Its the last thing at this point keeping me in the sense world. If I can find a decent contacts app replacement that can also query the corporate directory, I'd drop sense. Let me know if you find one please. ;-) Hal> I dropped Rosie and use ADW Launcher instead. I LOVE it! Pretty tweackable :-) I've never had a problem syncing contacts and a "client/server error" reported only once for my calendar. Deleting the account and re-adding took care of that, and I suspect it had to do with some meeting requests that got resent around too many times. Do you have any policies enforced on your exchange server ? Perhaps that's causing your sync issues. There was a thread I found on xda that had a hacked stock Mail.app with ignored the policies on the server ? Hal> You bet we have Policies enforced ;-) And I wouldn't infringe Corporate IT policy. They are here for a very good reason: protect Corporate financial data / IP... Hal> Still, the Android "Corporate" backend is working perfect while HTC "ActiveSync" is timing out on agenda/contacts... Hal> So I still need HTC "People" to access Corporate Directory through "People". Lastly, I have had a lot of stability and performance issues with r9. Not sure what caused them as others report it fine. In any case I'm currently running LeeDroid 2.2f while I wait for Paul to get bored of his new toys and come back to the desire. Will get back on the r10 WIP, esp. if it contains goodies from the Desire HD as Paul seemed to hint at. Hal> I had a slow down a couple of days before. Didn't have time to try and find why. A reboot took care of it so far. I can report however that the new radio 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27 seems to make a positive difference to my battery life. Hal> Very interesting. How did you flash 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27? From "Recovery" or with fastboot? I tried a couple of time through Recovery failed and left my original radio untouched (sigh of relief!) Shiva
Guest Hal06 Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 On the Calendar Widget front I'm using "Android Agenda Widget". It's free (pay version available) and works brilliantly. You can set multiple widgets to display different calendar sources and the interface is *highly* tunable: With ADW Launcher, I set the desktop as 4x5. I used 1 widget 4x3 for corporate dir + bank holidays for my country and US. I use 1 widget 4x2 for my solns school agenda + vacation. It supports transparency so I can still see the Golden Gate and Bay Area picture provided with ADW Launcher :-) Thanks! I've tried Pure and it didn't work how i'd like it to; and I've used Agenda before but was after the grid view. LP is the only one that really nails it but it's no bother. Thanks for the recommendations! Cheers, Hal

Guest Mathias1 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Still getting memory leaks...Any plans on getting that fixed?
Guest le_lutin Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Still getting memory leaks...Any plans on getting that fixed? Maybe. If you tell us what the symptoms are and how to reproduce the exact problem that you are seeing. If everyone who has the same ROM version as you is able to reproduce the issue, then we can say with some confidence that it is a ROM issue and not down to some change that you alone have made to your handset.
