Guest ray1234 Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I played with my friend's IP4 before and I also know that Safari browser is very quick among mobile browsers. Last time I compared the web loading speed of Safari against my i8000's Opera, Safari beat Opera by a large margin in almost every website I loaded. Knowing that my i8000 has a 800Mhz CPU, I couldn't believe Opera loads the page so much slower, so I searched the web and did some tweaks, mainly the following : 1) disable the cache. The time it takes Opera Mobile to load cache contents in memory is even more than freshly loading new data 2) use FPUEnabler - it seems to help a little bit, Opera seems to move more smoothly around the webpage, don't know if it is placebo effect 3) overclock using S3clock, it makes the loading a tad faster - I can overclock to 980Mhz stable Yesterday I did a comparison with my friend's IP4 Safari again, to my surprise I beat the IP4 Safari in 4-5 websites, while losing just in 1 website. I'm so glad my i8000 although nearly one year old now is still beating the current IP4's browser!
Guest xkill3rprox Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Which Opera version are you using?
Guest ray1234 Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I'm still using 9.5 - build 18152 I don't like Opera 10 without variable zoom, and I also have problem getting 9.7 to work the way I like it to work - I set default zoom to 115% in 9.5 and I can actually click on links with the default zoom without zooming in, I don't seem to be able to do that with versions other than 9.5.
Guest yokelvn Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 I'm still using 9.7 - build 35627 on Omnia 2 ( HD 2) very fast .
