Fibble is your kernel compatible with the 2.2 alpha releases?

EDIT: And if not can I could uncompress the 2.2 boot image and replace the kernel image with yours? Or are there driver incompatabilities

The kernel itself is compatible. You'll have to unpack the Froyo boot image and rebuild it with the new kernel.

You can either partition with a swap partition or use Swapper2 to create a swapfile.

I won't be making any kernels with swap support for Froyo whilst it's still in development.

How I can partition my SD card from Clockwork Recovery (not from ROM Manager)?

It's seems that there is no such option in the menu?

I don't think so. But you can flash amon ra (in fastboot), and when you're done with partitioning (make nand backup and sd backup first) in amon ra, go in fasboot, and flash the recovery.img (clockwork - you can find it in your clockwork backup folders) in fastboot. And than restore the old nandroid backup using clockwork

That's what I did

Hi! Im new in this story. Plese would you tell me how to instal oficial 2.1? I download and unzip file, then copy to SD card, and....update faild. I need help step by step.

I don't know if it's caused by the kernel or what

Surely there must be somebody out there that has a lot more knowledge about building kernels and can make a working .29 kernel for Android 2.1 with swap, compcache and all the other things people want? It's really hard work for somebody like me that, until yesterday, didn't even know how to build a kernel.

And Compcache is really annoying me now. It works and I can manually launch it.. but it doesn't work with swap and I can't figure out any way of making compcache loadable on boot whilst allowing people to disable it easily. Compcache + swap = very unstable phone.

meh.. why is it so difficult.

Download the official 2.1 update from either Tmobile Website, Or other's.

I dont have it on my computer anymore or i would upload, Ask one of the nice people in here to upload for you if you cant find it online.

(1) Mount USB to computer.

(2)Place Dload folder in Root of SD Card

(3)Turn off Phone.

(4)Then go to Menu, Settings, Phone & Storage, Or Card. I cant remember what it's under in 1.5.

(5)Upgrade or Somthing like that.

(6) Let it run it's course.

(7) Enjoy.

_______________

Forgot, Dont copy and paste Dload folder as it mixes with the one already on your SD if you have one on there, wich im assuming you do, cause your update failed.

Delete the one off the SD card first. Then place the new one you get into the root, By root i mean, not in no subfolders.

Eg. My computer, Removable E: place it in there. ( Windows )

Only the kernel changed, nothing else... You can reproduce this?

I just tested it once with FLB 1.5 with the kernel changes added from this thread (originally T-Mob UK kernel) and couldn't reproduce this.

No, doesn't affect me. But I'm running Froyo, not Eclair.

terminal: cat /proc/swaps

or

a2sd check

and look for the swap part. Either of those will show if it's working or not. If you have a swap partition then a2sd should enable it on boot.

Another way: (in terminal emulator) this command: free

Strange. I'm coming from Tre update to 1.5, applying the first, then the repaired second kernel update from here. I'll look into this, maybe the shootme and shaketomute is conflicting. Shootme installed after the kernel change, both using giro...

I have a swap partition. Thanks

Swap - [ ] Partition present.

[ ] No Swap flag file not found.

						   [] Swap starts.

To deactivate swap, type a2sd noswap

I guess it works :)

Another way: (in terminal emulator) this command: free

Thanks! :(

False alarm, seems to me the shootme uninstall solved the problem.
