Guest ambrozija Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Wow. I'm using FLB 1.5 with the newest oc kernel by flibblesan, and enabled JIT... just say wow. 4.6 in linpack, i've never seen such a faaaaaast pulse before. I think it's the best, what we can get from our little toy phone... Thanx for everyone, who make this happen... I'm running flb 1.3 (still!) and had jit enabled, but after I've had number of reboots in couple of days - I disabled it! Now the reboots are history! I have flibble OC to 691MHz and swap using swapper2 file, but I didn't had that kind of high score in linpack in any variation (mine is around 3)??!

About 3 is normal for eclair, without OC it's about 2. The highscores of 4 or 5 are with froyo and jit.

I use an Eclair build and get around 4.8/9 with 710Mhz. Sounds like person above doesn't have JIT enabled... Edit: My bad, ambrozija already said above he disabled JIT lol Edited September 27, 2010 by starkos
Guest D-D- Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 @starkos, so how did u enable jit on eclair? Just typed a2sd jit (or what was the command) in the terminal?
Guest starkos Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) @starkos, so how did u enable jit on eclair? Just typed a2sd jit (or what was the command) in the terminal? Nah I don't use DarkTremor (or what ever it's called) for a2sd, so I just used the dalvik files that were posted ages ago & activate/de-activate it using the line in build.prop jit/fast. I'll try find the page for you.. Edit: I think this is the original place http://sholes.id.au/how-to/#jit Edited September 27, 2010 by starkos
Guest Krinyo Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) Here is how i did it on FLB1.5: Copy Your own build.prop file from /system (with any explorer) to your SD Card and to Your computer Download this zip: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1297222 Edit Your own build.prop with adding dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit to the latest line copy the modified build.prop to the downloaded packet boot into recovery do nandroid flash the modified zip clear dalvik cache in recovery reboot If You loose root, then flash superuser again with recovery. I wonder how stable JIT is with swap supported kernel (virtually no memory problems). Edited September 27, 2010 by Krinyo
Guest starkos Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I wonder how stable JIT is with swap supported kernel (virtually no memory problems). That's what I'm trying to find out on my rom now, gonna leave it a couple days & see if there's any reboots...
Guest D-D- Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 @Krinyo & @starkos Thank you oh so very much. I don't think that will go on 2.2 anytime soon now. It works perfectly. Finaly a phone 2 brag with!
Guest igor_anta Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 That's what I'm trying to find out on my rom now, gonna leave it a couple days & see if there's any reboots... I am running FLB 1.5 with the new OC kernel and jit enabled ever since the swap support got available. Can't be all too sure about random reboots cause I usually max at 24 hours before I restart it for one reason or another (new kernels and such) so it didn't work long enough to be certain we're reboot free  It's running very smooth and stable like this, linpack scores go around 4.6 and I feel no overheating or random crashes. I've tried browsing (both Opera and Dolphin), listening to music, games, also Gameboid (with sound enabled) and all is well in Pulseland B) Oh, yeah, forgot to mention, Swapper 2 with 64 MB and swapiness set to 20. So from my experience the 2.1 FLB mods should be safe to enjoy all the speed benefits that FLB 2 has (except the OS being faster that is:)). Just my 2 cents. Cheers!

Cheers! +1 Since SWAP: memory problems gone JIT: the phone is feeling much faster OC: switch my phone to fifth gear I really don't care Froyo now, what I miss is the updated google apps (like the refreshed gmail), nothing more. The phone is stable, fast, and do everything, what I need.
Guest martinmax Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Froyo + Swap + Jit + OC 710Mhz = Stable and Fast Pulse
Guest rulerofkaos Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 For me jit on 2.1 is not really working, I get many reboots.
Guest Krinyo Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 For me jit on 2.1 is not really working, I get many reboots. Maybe You need faster SD-card. Just my 2 cents.

Ok, now it's running, maybe swap didn't start right after reflashing superuser. I'm getting a linpack of 4.8 compared to 3 without jit. Edited September 28, 2010 by rulerofkaos

The phone is stable, fast, and do everything, what I need. I tried to apply the JIT, but I failed. Maybe I try again another time but...can you test hpw RockPlayer rocks with these tweaks? JIT and OC might be enough for it to play a non-HD divx video smooth.
Guest Daz555 Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Those who find that Jit is fine on FLB-Mod 1. How did you install it? Simply using the a2sd jit command, or was there something else involved?

Guest Daz555 Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Looking at the instructions above then I have to ask....what does the command a2sd jit actually do?
Guest rulerofkaos Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Looking at the instructions above then I have to ask....what does the command a2sd jit actually do? It enables a jit included in darktremor a2sd. But it is not very stable.
Guest gusthy Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Looking at the instructions above then I have to ask....what does the command a2sd jit actually do? It replaces the dalvik binaries (this is the Java VM of Android) to a JIT enabled version. Unfortunately it uses a version that is not compatible with Froyo, so it is for 2.1 only (and also it is said to be unstable.) For Froyo you don't need it, since Froyo dalvik contains JIT by default.
Guest Krinyo Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Looking at the instructions above then I have to ask....what does the command a2sd jit actually do? For me doesn't do anything, just showed an error message. Follow the instructions above, it's working gooooood.

Guest igor_anta Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 I think I noticed a first indication that 690Mhz is sometimes an issue. I played Tiki Towers (a game that was practically unplayable before, this may be due to an update though, can't be really sure) and after a few levels it started to get choppy. I turned it of (this was yesterday) and today I played the same level and it was smooth again, but the same happened on the next level and so on. Only saying that still the most processor intensive stuff might not be that smooth even if they initially seem so. Or maybe it just got to a more detailed level and has nothing to do with overheating B) Can someone reproduce this with another game or app? Just to note that nothing bad happened to the phone, maybe it detected that it got too hot and just reduced the CPU usage cause there where no reboots and no FC's so it appears to be completely safe under any circumstances  Cheers!

I've got those kind of freezes when playing "robo defense", occasionally. My guess is that it got something to do with swap: maybe re-allocating memory, moving it from swap to RAM etc.
