Guest rjm2k Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Good news! I've not had chance to compile it but the defconfig for the P729B is in there, so fingers crossed they've managed to release the correct code this time. Afaik 29 will work for froyo but with some limitations, however if there is someone clever enough with enough time the changes made to the 29 blade source can be re-applied to a stock froyo kernel. Also, I would hope that given that the 880 will presumably be released in China soon, we can apply similar pressure to get the froyo kernel source too (eventually), they may just release it like they should anyway.
Guest HugoQueiriga Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Hurrah! :) P Should this be a sticky once again?
Guest Freekers Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Should this be a sticky once again? I also suggest adding the download mirrors to the first post, as the download servers of ZTE are extremely slow
Guest jsplace Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Anyone compiled this yet? I would but don't have a .config from the phone.... :)

Guest MDCFan Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) So far closest thing to ZTE sources appears to be branch android-msm-2.6.29b commit 2ecfffea35f58220f2e899984f1977bb385cc779 from Code Aurora Forum: https://www.codeaurora.org/gitweb/quic/la/?...msm.git;a=heads Short patch between this commit and ZTE's eclair source: http://gist.github.com/658104 Edited November 1, 2010 by MDCFan

Guest jimmy2x2x Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Has anyone managed to build a working rom from this source?
Guest hero protagonist Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Has anyone managed to build a working rom from this source? patientience is a virtue my friend
Guest ddotpatel Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Another MASSIVE thank you to everyone who turned up the pressure on ZTE, no doubt if it wasn't for you guys they would still have their dodgy code up. Good work everyone. ..... Another reason to ditch my HERO!
Guest southeastblue Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Yeah I would give it a couple days or so before seeing something, unless somebody is working on it ASAP as we speak... :)
Guest cobhc Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Great news, shame it's not Froyo, as the Alpha is sooooo much quicker, but at least we can look towards overclocking and custom kernels now :) Edit...Another Mirror - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/371262/blade_kernel-20101101.tar.bz2 Edited November 1, 2010 by cobhc
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Ill be looking at a om tomorroe methinks
Guest cobhc Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Ill be looking at a om tomorroe methinks Did you mean a rom? Instead of a om? Not taking the pee, just making sure om wasn't something I was missing lol. Any chances for overclocking? Edited November 1, 2010 by cobhc
Guest behnaam Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Compiled fine and booted it, power button not working, battery status not avaliable.... f*ck you ZTE!
Guest ddotpatel Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Compiled fine and booted it, power button not working, battery status not avaliable.... f*ck you ZTE! So has everyone been shafted then?.... Is it still an incomplete source?.....
Guest hero protagonist Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Compiled fine and booted it, power button not working, battery status not avaliable.... f*ck you ZTE! did you notice that there are: board_zte_blade_.c.bak ( 74.38K ) board_zte_blade.c ( 68.17K ) in kernel/arch/arm/mach-msm/ ? I haven't run a diff yet, but probably renaming board_zte_blade_.c.bak to board_zte_blade_.c and compiling again will yield better results
Guest TheDOC1 Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Could you lead me to a small howto on how to compile a kernel with ubuntu (which crosscompiler etc.) and try it out afterwards? Edited November 1, 2010 by TheDOC1
Guest rjm2k Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Compiled fine and booted it, power button not working, battery status not avaliable.... f*ck you ZTE! but it runs other than that? if so, at least it's a lot closer than before

Guest MDCFan Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 It appears that there is two ways to calculate battery capacity, but one is commented out (with #if 0) here: http://github.com/zadintuvas/blade-eclair/...ard-zte-blade.c Maybe somebody could try that? I still haven't got my phone.
