All you guys having the blue screen "issue" - this is normal when you apply the current Superuser root to a TFT version of the phone.

I believe Paul is working on an updated version which will display the colours correctly on the TFT Blades.

So if you apply a ROM that was designed for the OLED version onto the TFT version the colours will still look messed up (i.e. blue)

To get the TFT phones to display colours correctly you can only apply a ROM that was designed for the TFT version .

e.g. I have 2 x TFT phones - and I got the blue colours when I applied the Superuser unlock.

After that I applied the Customised BladeVillain 1.1.0 RLS4 ROM everything displays with the correct colours.

THE CURRENT MoDaCo Custom ROM (MCR) WILL NOT DISPLAY CORRECTLY ON THE TFT BLADE'S!!!

For a list of ROM's which are compatible on the OLED and TFT versions see here:

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/

If you are going to use the Clockwork Recovery app to apply a custom ROM to your TFT Blade, make sure you use version 2.5.0.9 and not the latest 2.5.1.3 (some TFT users are having issues with v2.5.1.3)

I hope this clarifies things - I was banging my head against the wall trying to make sense of it all yesterday as well - especially since reading about the blue tinge approximate 5 secs after I started rooting my TFT Blade! :)

the first post seemed so easy but after trying and getting "waiting for device" I had to take the battery out of the phone to get it to turn off. then reading through the rest of the posts it starts to get a bit vague... do I need drivers on my pc ? do I need android sdk ? or have I done something wrong ? perhaps a complete idiots guide from start to finish detailing everything needed, that would be great thanks.

Hello everyone i seem to have a bit of trouble getting the orange icons to disappear, i've done this to my other phone a few months back no problems but this is another san fran i have, which is a few months old, i've done all the below notes.

Put phone in boot mode.

connect to computer.

Open cmd.exe and enter

cd C:\fastboot

fastboot-windows flash boot boot.blade.superboot.mcri.r3.img

fastboot-windows reboot

Let it boot up.

Done.

Superuser is on the phone.

I then put the sd card with the mcri-system.tar.gz file in the phone.

switched on and let boot up but when it finished booting nothing changed all the orange stuff is still there been at it hours trying to sort it, anyone ideas what might be wrong?

EDIT:

problem sorted

I believe that my SF's screen is AMOLED but how can somebody be sure for that?

As said before: Go to Settings -> About Phone -> scroll down to Build number -> if it's ending with B05 it is OLED, if not it's TFT (mine has B08 and is TFT)

Hi everyone;

After looking at about a page of people who have flashed Superboot to TFT devices I think I need to post here.

Devices that have TFT Screens have the build Number OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08

Devices that have OLE Screens have the build Number OUK_P729BV1.0.0B05

The build Number can be found in - Settings | About Phone | Build Number

r3 Superboot does NOT support TFT Devices

You need to install Clockwork and then a ROM

Please either look at Pauls Clockwork Post here

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...rkmod-recovery/

Or My Guide here

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/

If you have flashed Superboot and you have a TFT device and your screen is blue(ish) - dont panic - Select a ROM that supports TFT (see my guide above) and carry on (while keeping calm)

my number is OUK_P729BV1.0.0B05 so it is OLE but trying to root it just says "waiting for device" I just want to know.... do I need anything installed prior to using superboot ? and if I do need, USB drivers or clockworkmod or something else then I would appreciate these being mentioned rather than assuming everyone knows that they are necessary. I have no wish to risk installing a rom... merely to root my phone. I have PM'd Paul without reply.

Rooting can be done on ANY ROM - and it does not need fastboot or drivers

This is the part pulled from my guide http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/

Rooting your ROM

Some ROM's come pre-rooted, if you want ROOT you can always add it after installing the ROM.

Rooted means that the
Super user
program has been installed and added into the
system
partition of the Phone

The program lives in
/system/bin/su
and has a link in the
App Drawer
on your phone.

ROMs that are rooted have the file and the link, ROOT is used to run programs as Super User, once they have these rights they can Change and Read files that are normally protected from APK's (normal Programs from the Market)

When you start an App that requires superuser, superuser will ask you to either Grant or Deny the access.

You can
ADD Super User
(root your device) by downloading and installing a special APK.

Hey guys I've been following the whole SF forum for some days now, just holding my new SF in my hands for the first time now lol and I've googled around but I can't seem to find an answer to this.. I went to the build number of my phone and it was OPT_P729BV1.0.0B03 , and I would like to know if 03 means it's TFT or OLED! I've seen a build from sebastian that ended with 03 and people with TFT's were using it, but I really want to be sure before doing anything that can possibly brick my phone lol

Best regards

Hi

as far as I know only the **B05 builds have the OLED display. All other builds have the TFT (I heard of **B01, **B02, **B03, **B08)

I bought a san fransisco and unlocked it, good so far. I then used my o2 sim to find everything worked fine except the internet. I have visited 3 o2 shops and been told, 1. When you unlock a phone it can become unstable. 2. The other 2 shops said that because o2 don't sell the ZTE Blade they don't have settings for it.

Can anyone tell me if this problem can be overcome.

What you need to do is install a ROM that includes the boot part of the device this will fix the blue screen etc

We need to find you the file : ORANGE ROM OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08

It used to be linked (one of sebastian404 files) from this forum, but a DOS attack too out the file hosting.

I will post back here asap when I have found it for you

EDIT : watch this thread http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-hosting-these/

When we get the file - use clockwork it install the STOCK ROM - this will fix the BOOT see stage 2 http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/

Then simply follow stage 2 again (and clears your cache and factory reset) with a ROM that is TFT compatible

I would try the o2 settings for htc wildfire or htc desire.

I had the same issue when i tried to run my OSF on Tmobile.....when i put in the settings for htc wildfire, it worked like a charm. Good luck.

To lose the BLUE TINT

get the stock rom OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08 (OLED+TFT devices)

from here

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...online-kitchen/

Then simply flash in clockwork, and clear you cache and factory reset

Then let it boot

Then back into clockwork and flash a ROM that supports TFT, and clear you cache and factory reset

instructions here (if you have clockwork already skip stage 1)

My fault for rushing through and not taking time to read the oled/tft

It's fine, your not alone.

I am thinking of making a new post to cover people with the blue tint problem.

Users with the Blue Tint problem

Need to follow this guide

That guide is splendid, I did not have to follow that though as I did a back up before I flashed with the wrong rom.

I have now installed the Bladevillain 1.1.0 fat rsl4 with no issues, just needed to wipe data.

To get the phone back to life from a dead brick I took the battery and sim card out and left it for 5 mins then went back in through the CMR and installed from back up.( just in case anyone else gets the same issues)

Thanks for the input Steve

One thing I can't do is add contacts from sim, phone just stays on "loading" screen...... Sorted transfered to mem card, then imported

Went to o2 forums and found this,

here are the settings for htc wildfire on 02 pay as you go, it worked on mine.

go to... setting>wireless and networks>mobile networks>access point names>menu>new APN...

Name= o2 pay and go

APN= payandgo.o2.co.uk

Proxy= 193.113.200.195

Port= 8080

Username= payandgo

Password= password

Server= <Not set>

MMSC= http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002

MMS proxy= 193.113.200.195

MMS port= 8080

MMS protocol= WAP 2.0

MCC= 234

MNC= 10

Authentification type= None

APN type= *

When you have finished inputting these settings make sure that there is a green light next to the O2 Pay and Go setting.or it won't work!

Followed the instructions, and BINGO i'm up and running.

Cheers Baldude. :(
