Oh yeah..... It is a Panasonic  . Still, Sharp, Panasonic. They seem to be pretty much identical to me!

Yeah I'd buy one again.

If only to p*ss of the people I work with/for (Company's name begins with N ends with A and has oki in the middle).

Was once told that if I had another manufacturers phone they would put it into a beer-can crusher!

SPV is a great toy and well ahead of anything I have seen here!

Negatives

Picture msging is slow.

Taking pictures, need to go through about 4 menu options, and create a dummy MMS message, the phone would benefit from a dedicated app for the camera instead of relying on messaging menus to do this.

Adding the camera slows it down, the phone could benefit from a faster processor.

Taking a picture is not Wysiwyg.  The processor/screen refresh is around 1 to 2 seconds behind real time so you end up with a photo thats different to what you were viewing at the time the shutter was pressed.

Key pad is a bit small

Web browsing landscape option not available but would be much better.

Crashes now and again. Its crashed around 6 times so far in 14 days usually when you try and do too much at once.

It also helps if you power down once a day to clean out memory buffers and call stacks.

A bit on the heavy side compared to other phones on the market.

Text messaging is not as quick or fluent as the Nokia 6210, this is down to the keyboard size.

Only 8mb card with phone a 128mb card costs around £45

No reset key on the phone, need to remove battery when the phone crashes.

No mini keyboard available, as yet.

Overall for the first smart phone, this things wicked !!

This isnt a flame, it just looks fairly comprehensive and i thought i'd look over it post-update :)

1: Can't be helped really as its hardware limitations causing it (if you are referring to the refresh rate)

2: Only 2 clicks now; Programs > camera (assuming you didnt move hte shortcut)

3: Seems to be more efficient and responsive post update

4: Picture is taken when you press capture now

3: You are too picky ;p

4: No landscape, but scrolling is a lot faster now making browsing a lot easier.

5: No problems post update

6: Again seems a lot more efficient now

7: Again, being picky ;p

8: The keypad isnt that bad once you are accustomed (sp) to it

9: They didn't ~have~ to provide anything ;p

10: If the keys reposnded you wouldn't need to pull the battery (in general)

11: "coming soon"

I reckon its got a whole load better by your views post update ;)

I would wait and get an SPVx or Tangaer - basically the same phone but with better keypad and screen

Monolithix, how come you have numbers 3 and 4 twice?

Agree whole hartidly with what you put as well, post update the phone is miles better than it was (and it was pretty good to start with). The best thing I have found is the signal strength. I live in a converted church and the walls are over 3 feet thick. I have had numerous phones and all 4 operator SIMs and none have provided a signal at all in my house. Post update I have 2 bars! I'm just worried my head is going to start glowing soon.

SirGaz, 3 possible reasons:

2: I can't count

7: I was at work so probably doing other stuff at the same time.

If i knew what owning an SPV was going to be like then I wouldn't have got one in the first place. My number 1 priority is to be able to make and recieve calls. The SPV fails to do this as well as any other phone I have had, and I still experience the "Error, Unable to Answer Call" post UK update.

Great features, but IMO I have been beta testing a phone for 3 months. I have to reboot my phone far too many times a day & it is too slow to be really usefull, there are still too many little annoyances. I really want cross network MMS, but that isn't a phone issue.

d.

Oh, and battery life is shocking. Other than that the ability to play pokemon on the tube in the morning is great :) and I couldn't cope with not being able to access email as easily as I can now.

I have not rebooted since the update. As with any OS, keep the free space at a maximum and you will find that any / and or all negative stability issues seem to go away (this is true with any OS including Linux, Mac, etc..). You will also find the responsiveness increase with more memory available.
