Guest Simon O Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Seems like most of the Pulse developers are getting San Francisco phones (or already have them). Now we need BigBearMDC on board too. We should donate to help him out!

Guest thisweb Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Am I the only one whos noticed a flaw with this phone/deal To have internet you have to top up 10£ a month. I don't on t mobile pulse, its just £20 for 6 months free internet. Orange don't seem to do an equivalent deal. So its actually going to cost me an extra £80 a year if I swap my pulse for the SanFran. Of course thats only if your like me and don't spend £10 a month on calls, I mainly use it for the internet features.

Guest spoonium Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Hm, why don't you continue to use your t-mobile SIM then? // Edit Should refresh before answering. Edited October 1, 2010 by spoonium

I think the reason it's getting harder and harder to get a discount out of Orange directly is because they're reading the threads here and on HUKDs and see that most people buying the SF are doing so to unlock it and use it on other networks. I doubt most people who have bought the SF will bother sticking with Orange PAYG. I got one for £79 all in. I will be unlocking it, but I do also have a Orange contract sim I can use in this phone (as well as 3 T-Mobile 3gig contracts and two O2 contracts - yes, I need to stop taking out mobile phone contracts!). Incidentally, I've actually lost my orange contract phone (not that I ever use it!), so asked to buy the SF as a replacement handset. The nice chap let me use a relative's very old PAYG Orange number to get the £30 discount.
Guest thisweb Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Oh, so is it currently unlockable then? I thought it wasn't?
Guest prufrock Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Oh, so is it currently unlockable then? I thought it wasn't? It's currently unlockable for the princely sum of $3. There's a thread up top about unlocking.
Guest Maringer Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 It's currently unlockable for the princely sum of $3. There's a thread up top about unlocking. Heh - heard about this phone for the first time yesterday afternoon and went to the shop today to buy one. Just waiting for it to charge now before getting stuck in. Hopefully it will work a little more smoothly than my current WinMob phone, Touch HD! It has been fun messing about with various WM ROMs but I'm looking forward to trying out android. Anyway, the reason I'm posting in this thread is to mention that I went to the Orangeshop with my girlfriend who is a school teacher and can confirm that we got the 20 quid discount without any problems. We took her wage slip in and that was all they needed to offer a £20 'perk' discount so I paid 90 quid. A pretty ridiculous amount of tech for this price and I just hope I can get Swype on this phone somehow!

Guest batch_2001 Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 So will the £12 quidco go through even though I also used the £21 "phone fund" at the same time? If so - result!
Guest retrend Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Hmm, orange have charged me 109.99 even though they said they would give me £20 discount over the phone. Has anyone who had this problem managed to get it resolved?

Guest oh!dougal Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Does anyone know if they are still giving discount if you already have an orange payg sim?? i just called up to ask how much it would be and ... he said i wouldnt get any discounts as this is already ... There is supposed to be a requirement that you have used Orange for a (variable) while, probably supposed to be 6 or 12 months. Some people claim to have been so nice, and so persuasive, that they have been given the deal on an almost-new sim ... But do remember that you are a customer asking about an offer, not demanding anything by right. Best thing would be to call again (and perhaps again), being polite and asking what deals he is authorised to offer, because you had heard there was "something" for LOYAL Orange users ... You are dealing with a call-centre (or perhaps several of them) and you are likely to get a different story next time you call.

Thanks, iv just called them again but asked to upgrade my payg phone, ( i gave them a number for an old sim card that is now disconnected) i then told them i also have a contract with them ( i took this out 2 months ago) the lady quoted the full price and i said i will have a think about it and call back, then she offered me the £20 discount becasue im already a customer! so i took it and paid £88 inc 10 pound top up :) i wasnt pushy and didnt ask for the discount, thanks for the advice :)
Guest vigadish Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) I ordered mine yesterday evening over the phone. I only had 50p in my phone fund lol. He still offered me £30 off bringing the total to £79.99 (incl top-up). Obviously he tried to sell me a 1-month rolling contract after but I gracefully declined. Should be arriving tomorrow via courier. Will unlock it for use on o2 and then consider any other "modifications". First and foremost, I want Angry Birds!!! Edited October 14, 2010 by vigadish
Guest zZ-Zombi-xVz Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Just ordered mine for £79.99 (not sure if £10 top up included) will be delivered on Wednesday..can't wait :)
