Guest billposters Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Below are the two APN's I have on my phone which work. MMS Name:O2 MMs APN: wap.o2.co.uk Proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk Port: 9201 Username: o2wap Password: password Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195 MMS Port: 8080 MCC: 234 MNC: 10 APN Type: mms WAP APN (contract): mobile.o2.co.uk Username: web Password: web Hi, As a bit of a luddite newbie can I ask what I'm sure is a basic question please. I have an O2 contract simplicity sim with a web bolt-on. With these settings will it recognise the contract sim , and take the internet I use from my o2 500mb web allowance, rather than charge me per mb used. Obviously I do not wish for a large surprise bill at the end of the month! Sorry for my ignorance, and thanks in advance
Guest mattresso Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the settings Edited October 27, 2010 by mattresso
Guest Cheejy Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Same as, the pics that i recieve are sh*t quality that i can hardly make them out. :) I think the issue from reading about is that android doesn't identify the handset to the network properly so the network (o2) sends MMS images at the default tiny size ending up with the crap quality mms. The issue was fixed on the HD2 by xda-developers Linky I don't want to be messing about with the registry on the sanfran, can any of the gurus here do a simplified guide on how to change the registry entry?

I am on a similar contract and haven't been charged anything extra, if you are worried about going over install the netsentry app which will monitor how much you use.
Guest jim144 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 O2 Pay and Go & GPRS Settings After three days of messing about:-....... If you don't fancy typing all the info in just unzip the attached file to your SD card and use APN Backup & Restore to restore the above Many thanks for those. I had been giving Orange a trial period to see how the service was, but they've totally failed to provide free texts or internet on my Dolphin package. I ring them up to see why they've been eating all my money, and they just say "sorry, there's a technical problem. We'll fix it and call you back within x hours". And they haven't. So, thanks to you I'm back on my O2 PAYG sim, which gives me unlimited texts and internet for £15 a month. And I don't have to change my number or port it. :-) I've noticed though, that with these settings, the newly O2 San Fran never changes to 3G. It remains staunchly on GPRS. I have unticked "use only 2G networks", enabled data connections, but I can't get 3G. Any hints for me? Many thanks!

Guest jim144 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) is your sim a 3g sim? do you usually have 3g coverage in your area? I didn't know there were 2G and 3G sims. 3G is definitely available in the places I've been, but previously I only had a LG Cookie which wasn't a 3G phone. How can I tell if the SIM is 3G or not? EDIT: Update - I went to an O2 shop today and they gave me a replacement sim which is apparently 3G capable. We didn't discuss the phone itself, so I'm waiting for the changeover hour so I can install the new 3G sim and see if it works :-) Edited November 4, 2010 by jim144

Guest Kingbhoy Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) My web is fine 3G works well, but cant send or recieve MMS i get the message when trying to download a MMS "Currently unable to download please try again later" anyone else had this? Here are the web settings that work fine on simplicity contract http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f41/o2-...settings-18558/ Edited December 2, 2010 by Kingbhoy
Guest stephent3 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 These settings don't work for me either... I've worked this one out. 'Reset to Default' on the APNs screen to delete any APNs you have entered, then follow the manual APN set up for MMS and Mobile Web for the desire found here: http://mobileguide.o2.co.uk/devices/device...d=651&tab=8 This should work straight away. It seems to be that if you enter in the APN details and then just press back to go out of it, even though it shows the APNs in your list and has the details behind them it doesn't save them, you have to press menu when you have completed the details and press save. If you save after you press back then it doesn't work. You may want to put the APN type to MMS for the MMS APN instead of leaving it blank to go to default. The APNs in my list now show to grey buttons so you can swap between the two. Happy Browsing. Stephent3
Guest What_The_Fox_Hat Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 The link you posted doesn't work Try http://mobileguide.o2.co.uk/devices/device...;settingId=3201 and http://mobileguide.o2.co.uk/devices/device...;settingId=3203
Guest trishmac Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I've discovered after much tinkering that the only way to receive an mms on O2 is if the sender resizes it and sends it as a small pic..prob less than 200 pixels if poss ;)

Guest geedub Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) O2 Pay and Go & GPRS Settings After three days of messing about:- Download APN Backup & Restore from the market and install. Delete all the installed APN's. Navigate to settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names. You will find it blank. Click on Menu & create a new APN with the following credentials :- Name:O2 APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk Proxy: Port: Username: payandgo Password: password Server: MMSC: MMS: MMS: MCC: 234 MNC: 10 Authentication type : none APN Type: default Don't forget to hit Menu & Save when you have entered the details. Then, create another APN with the following credentials:- Name:O2 MMS PREPAY APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk Proxy: http://payandgo.o2.co.uk Port: 9201 Username: payandgo Password: password Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195 MMS Port: 8080 MCC: 234 MNC: 10 Authentication type : none APN Type: mms Once again Hit Menu & save. Re-boot your phone & hey presto - GPRS and MMS that works on an O2 Pay & Go sim. Tested & working on Orange San Fransisco/ZTE Bladein the UK Hope the above is of help. If you don't fancy typing all the info in just unzip the attached file to your SD card and use APN Backup & Restore to restore the above hi glad i found this thread ! just to confirm these settings worked for me cheers Edit : my phone is now showing an E at the top aswell with 2 arrows under it ( one pointing up and one pointing down ) never ever seen this , my understanding is it means EDGE , im assuming this is the same as GPRS ? someone please explain as my phone has also helped itself to my credit aswell ! only really wanted to recieve mms and now i have this Edge and ive lost credit ( GPRS is switched off ) Edited December 12, 2010 by geedub
Guest trishmac Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 strange, I don't have this issue, which rom are you using? I'm not clever enough to change roms and stuff..it's as it came from orange..just unlocked..and with never ending problems with mms lol :)
Guest Nivag57 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Just got a Orange San Francisco found this forum and managed to get phone unlocked easily and got my pay and go O2 pay and go card working. After reading this thread I eventually got Wap to work but despite trying various settings I could not get MMS to work. Re-read thread and tried settings for mms as per post 77 and finally got picture messaging to work both sending and receiving. Thanks to all for info in thread. Now I have to decide whether to try and get rid of all the Orange content from phone.
Guest whoop_whoop Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I can't get O2 contract settings working either. Went into O2 yesterday and they surprisingly helped me by using the HTC Desire settings but it didn't work.
