My next phone will be an N8 - the Blade is only a stopgap.

I'd like to know what is wrong with Symbian? It manages power better than most other mobile operating systems, the N8 has better codec support out of the box than virtually anything else out there. The camera is second to none, connectivity is equally beating everything else on the market.

The only thing lacking with the N8 is that it has the standard "old fashioned" symbian theme. Everything else on it works perfectly.

And a 680mHz CPU is more than adequate if the GPU is leveraged - which it is in the N8.

Symbian, in it's current form, is dead. I was developing for Symbian for more than two years, I know what I'm talking about. The N8's camera may be good and everything, but the mod-ability of the phone is LOW, and that's stupid that it has the most codecs - while Android is Linux based (so any open-source codec can be compiled), Symbian is a totally different system - developers need to re-write their codecs to work.

Also, the Adrenos 200 is a pretty new GPU, it debuted a year ago, while the N8 uses an almost 3 years old graphics enhancer! The only reason it plays back high-resolution video so good that the application CPU access management is so different - if something needs the whole CPU, it will get it, and the system closes unneeded processes. Also, there the media player, etc, are all NATIVE code, not a line of JAVA was used, not like in Android. The JAVA-ism of our system makes it great, easily programmable, moddable, etc, but the virtual machine what has to run the app takes a lot of processing force, thus letting the decoder run less smoother.

If it was possible to create a totally native UI system for the media player (actually, a totally native media player system), and shut down the JAVA based GUI, etc, behind it while playing movies, it would increase the play's smoothness a lot.
