Guest BGRT Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Just to revive an old'ish' thread ;) ... A colleague as just got himself an unlocked San Francisco which he will be using on Vodafone. On the new APN he needs to create, does he just need to enter the following copied from an earlier post ? APN (contract): internet or APN (PAYG): pp.vodafone.co.uk Username: web Password: web What about the other settings including MCC & MNC, can they just be left to whatever the default is ? Thanks in advance.
Guest RunTimeWorld Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Seeing as a few people seem to be having problems with APN settings :- To input a new APN click "MENU" on front of phone, click "settings" on the bottom right of the screen click "Wireless and Networks" at the top of the screen, Click "Mobile Networks" at the bottom of the screen, Click "Access Point Names" at the bottom of the screen. Click "MENU" on the front of the phone and select "New APN" on the screen, Enter details of network settings below and then click "MENU" on the front of phone and "Save" Hope this helps some people Regards to all Billyhl. Settings taken from unlocked-dongle website to help people out. Whichever mobile network you use, try setting the APN to 'Dynamic' initially and use the appropriate username \ password below. If it doesn't work change to 'Static' and manually enter the APN setting. All settings are case sensitive! Guest mikegeorge Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I can't get MMS to work on asda. I got to a text with a download button, hit download and it says: 'currently unable to download. please try again later' I have the following settings in 2 apn's. Is it meant to be in 2? Cause it seems you can only put the green selection dot in 1. But I can't merge them into 1 because the user and pass differ? The internet works with either apn selected but I can't get mms to work. for the web (works fine) apn: asdamobiles.co.uk proxy: port: username: web password: web server: mmsc: mms proxy: mms port: mcc: 234 mnc: 15 authentication type: apn type: default for mms apn: asdamobiles.co.uk proxy: port: username: wap password: wap server: mmsc: http://mms.asdamobiles.co.uk/servlets/mms mms port: 8799 mcc: 234 mnc: 15 authentication type: apn type: default Based on these settings: http://www.asdamobile.com/help/mms_internet_settings.aspx Thanks for any help. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but have tried these and cannot get the web working on asda sim (or mms) Any help would be much appreciated, as the ASDA website help doesn't make any sense to me as the inputs on the phone are different Thanks, Mike.

Guest alltheway3 Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 And for GiffGaffers... http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Learn-gif...roid/td-p/97392 Not sure if this has been mentioned but GiffGaff has an app in tyhe market which applies the correct APN seetings for you at a touch of a button. Then uninstall it :D Personally, I think every network should have an app like this.
Guest cbrpaul Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) i managed to get mms now , but the res is very low ??? :D here is what i did so for contract customers on o2 only Add a new APN as follows , you should still keep the existing o2 APN ( with the the green dot next to it ) , as the one below works along side it !! APN wap.o2.co.uk PROXY <Not set> PORT <Not set> USERNAME O2wap PASSWORD password SERVER http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 MMSC http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 MMS PROXY 193.113.200.195 MMS PORT 8080 MCC 234 MNC 10 APN TYPE mms Then to take effect !!! YOU MUST RE-START YOUR BLADE , !!! But as said they are low res , is this normal , i think i heard its down to o2 not reckognises the blade or something ? Any got any ideas please ? Guest bingo83 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Thanks for the GiffGaff settings

Guest Ydnaroo Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) Hi I've just popped my O2 PAYG SIM into my SF and unlocked the phone successfully. When I go to the APN screen the is totally blank except for the band at the top and there is no option to add new APNs. I've restarted the phone and there is no difference. Can anyone help me with how I can input the O2 APN settings? Cheers - Y Edit: Please disregard above, I've just realised that you have to press the menu button to get the new APN option. Edited January 26, 2011 by Ydnaroo
Guest wbready Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I have already tried changing these settings on my phone and still cant get internet access, its a Virgin SIM in the unlocked phone, shows as T-Mobile network but i have loaded the settings for Virgin as per instructions from Virgin customer helpdesk. Thanks Seeing as a few people seem to be having problems with APN settings :- To input a new APN click "MENU" on front of phone, click "settings" on the bottom right of the screen click "Wireless and Networks" at the top of the screen, Click "Mobile Networks" at the bottom of the screen, Click "Access Point Names" at the bottom of the screen. Guest sparkxster Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) I'm new to the forum, android and the ZTE Blade OSF. Thanks to all the posters. I've read so much and started to learn. Brillant :-) I used the instructions here http://www.chrislowthian.co.uk/upgrade-you...-versions/1898/ to get Froyo 2.2 I'm using an iPhone o2 pay monthly contract (I was told by the o2 sales agent that this was a better deal than the smart phone one). I notice that the phone number in Settings/About Phone is listed as unkown. I can't get the data to work. I've tried the settings given at the top and the one mentioned later for the iphone contract. I presumed it was "password" and not my password. SOLUTION I've come back to confess. Hopefully, help if you're as new as I am. In wireless & network settings>Mobile networks> check the Data enabled box. Edited February 12, 2011 by sparkxster
Guest blueled Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Then to take effect !!! YOU MUST RE-START YOUR BLADE , !!! From my experience, it is not needed to restart the blade for the settings to take effect. as soon as you've put the correct settings, the data icon appears showing downloading/uploading at once. O2 pay and go, 2.1 rom
Guest Paul Fraser Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 There was a list of options on my Access Points Names page after I flashed to Jellyfish so I just needed to tick Vodaphone Prepay. Now, next to the signal strength meter there is a smaller two way arrow box with an E at the top. When the phone was on Orange this was 3G. Now on Vodaphone Dolphin PAYG. Anyone care to tell me what the E means?
Guest jamidodger1 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) It Means EDGE The List Is EDGE GPRS HSUPA 3G In That Order. Edited April 17, 2011 by jamidodger1
Guest Paul Fraser Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Thanks for that; I'll go and find out what the difference between them is (speed mostly I guess as EDGE just tested at about 142 kbs...)
Guest daz_app Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Just joined the forum, after lurking for a bit since I bought a OSF for the missus. Thanks to all the posters in the thread for getting the 3G and MMS working, especially billyhl and sparxster.. daz
Guest anotherbob Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I've given up on getting MMS to work on my OSF using Giff Gaff. No matter what I try the pictures arrive at about 25kb. Does anyone know if it would work OK on Talkmobile PAYG Essentials?
Guest falap34 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I'm new to this forum. Is awesome with some great advice but it doesn't seem to work for me! I bought an OSF which is now unlocked with 2.2 Froyo and I cannot get the internet to work. It is showing connectivity (comes up with the H symbol at top with up and down arrow flashing) but when I try to load an internet page it just refuses to do it. I've tried manually inputting all the info on APNs but it hasn't worked. Works perfectly on wireless. I tried my GFs sim which did exactly the same thing and she's on Orange. Any help would be so appreciated cos I'm tearing my hair out trying to get this going! Cheers Andy I'm on a T-Mobile contract btw! Edited May 15, 2011 by falap34
Guest zombimuncha Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 missing from these lists of APN settings is Dialog Vizz, a UK "Virtual" network (like Tesco etc) running on Vodafones infrastructure . Their APN settigns are as follows: APN: gprsconnect.com Username: <blank> Password: <blank>
