Just repack the boot image with the Blade kernel. It looks like the 2.2 rom is using 2.6.29 anyway.

Sounds easy than.

I have emailed ZTE asking when they are releasing the source code now that the handset and ROM is in the wild. Will let you know if they respond.

Nope it's using 2.6.32.9-perf

So it is.

2.6.29 should work.

Use the wifi module from the 2.1 rom (and any other kernel modules).

Expect problems with mounting partitioned sdcards. The modified vold from the pulse froyo port should fix it.

Change

ro.product.locale.language=zh
in build.prop to
ro.product.locale.language=en

The error messages might be a bit easier to read. ;)

Ok,

So doing it correctly this time and erasing the system partition before I started...

booting from the standard kernel it just sits on the Android Spash logo... and well you can see what happens from the kmsg.

Booting it from the kernel that came with the dump, it progresses further down the process showing a boot animation (with sound!), but sits there forever, you can see the kmsg from that too..

2.6.32.9_perf___kmsg.txt

Will.

It's the horribly slow boot animation from the Chinese 2.2 ROM complete with audio.

I knew that :) Just wanted confirmation.

Hmmm, confirmed, I can boot the 2.2 kernel but no touchscreen (and seemingly no USB either?)

Once we get both kernel sources it should be easy to fix as long as this are the only problems - but who knows if we'll ever get the source from the Chinese operator?

Best regards,

Indeed. The source will come from ZTE not the Chinese operator.

So I guess the chances for us getting the other kernel source aren't too good. But maybe ZTE will release 2.2 for the SF also.

Best regards,

BB

If the original poster is still around, can you get your friend to do a 'cat /proc/mtd' and post the results here..

Thanks

To be honest it would be quicker and easier if we just try and build a working 2.6.32.9 kernel for the blade, possibly using an existing kernel from the Legend as a base.

I will ask him to do it tonight. :)
