Guest David Horvath Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Just repack the boot image with the Blade kernel. It looks like the 2.2 rom is using 2.6.29 anyway. Sounds easy than.
Guest vl4d1m1r Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I have emailed ZTE asking when they are releasing the source code now that the handset and ROM is in the wild. Will let you know if they respond.
Guest Tom G Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) Nope it's using 2.6.32.9-perf So it is. 2.6.29 should work. Use the wifi module from the 2.1 rom (and any other kernel modules). Expect problems with mounting partitioned sdcards. The modified vold from the pulse froyo port should fix it. Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Sounds easy than. Ah yes.... how hard can it be .... :)
Guest Tom G Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Ah yes.... how hard can it be .... :) Change ro.product.locale.language=zh in build.prop to ro.product.locale.language=en The error messages might be a bit easier to read. ;)
Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) Ok, So doing it correctly this time and erasing the system partition before I started... booting from the standard kernel it just sits on the Android Spash logo... and well you can see what happens from the kmsg. Booting it from the kernel that came with the dump, it progresses further down the process showing a boot animation (with sound!), but sits there forever, you can see the kmsg from that too..2.6.29___kmsg.txt2.6.32.9_perf___kmsg.txt Edited October 3, 2010 by Sebastian404

Guest robot1000 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 it's all gone quiet? Probably because we're all waiting on Paul to have a look at it
Guest Paul Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Back in the office and catching up... downloading now! :) P
Guest David Horvath Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Back in the office and catching up... downloading now! :) P Go Paul, go! I would get popcorn, but i'm in the office :/ I have Marlenka though ;)
Guest will7201 Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 I hope you dont mind: Just looked at the fleeting video. Can someone tell me what I just witnessed :) Will.
Guest Simon O Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Just looked at the fleeting video. Can someone tell me what I just witnessed :) Will. It's the horribly slow boot animation from the Chinese 2.2 ROM complete with audio.
Guest will7201 Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 It's the horribly slow boot animation from the Chinese 2.2 ROM complete with audio. I knew that :) Just wanted confirmation. Will.
Guest Paul Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Hmmm, confirmed, I can boot the 2.2 kernel but no touchscreen (and seemingly no USB either?) :) P
Guest BigBearMDC Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Hmmm, confirmed, I can boot the 2.2 kernel but no touchscreen (and seemingly no USB either?) :) P Once we get both kernel sources it should be easy to fix as long as this are the only problems - but who knows if we'll ever get the source from the Chinese operator? Best regards, BB
Guest Paul Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Indeed. The source will come from ZTE not the Chinese operator. P
Guest BigBearMDC Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Indeed. The source will come from ZTE not the Chinese operator. P So I guess the chances for us getting the other kernel source aren't too good. But maybe ZTE will release 2.2 for the SF also. Best regards, BB
Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 If the original poster is still around, can you get your friend to do a 'cat /proc/mtd' and post the results here.. Thanks

Best regards, BB To be honest it would be quicker and easier if we just try and build a working 2.6.32.9 kernel for the blade, possibly using an existing kernel from the Legend as a base.
