Hey guys... Please be careful with this... I will look at it first thing tomorrow when I'm home!

The reason I asked the contributor to tar the system image is because it preserves permissions. :)

Ah well in my haste to try and run this I must have botched that up somewhere - Getting permission denied when trying to run applications so I must have lost the executable flags and I'm assuming all other permissions too. Time to try again ;)

Annoyed I'm not at home now. :)

Do the GNOME archive manager tools lose the file permissions when uncompressing? The uncompressed .tar.gz on Ubuntu 10.10 has no file permissions for me...

Don't worry it will be here when you get back tomorrow!!

Unless the servers go down for the hosted file, and if the internet is down, if that is the case I'll rent a messenger pigeon to you with the files!

I'm told in some places pigeon is faster than the internet provided. lol :)

Erm...

I'm not sure what happened there, but the other post seems to of disappeared...

I downloaded the file and had a quick look and first off seems the boot and recovery partitions are larger...

can someone with a 2.2 phone do a 'cat /proc/mtd' ?

I merged the 2.2 topics.

That doesn't really matter, I imagine the 2.2 boot and recovery images repacked will fit on ours no problem. :)

Since this 2.2 uses a kernel for the V880, I hope we don't end up with half the RAM we should (if it even boots!)

if all goes well, will you be releasing your own modded version?

Of course, but that's quite an assumption!

i am downloading the 2.2 rom from my friend. but not sure how he finally solved the problems. once finished, i will sent to paul.

I think it would also be good to get a copy of this one and compare the dumps :)

my friend asked, can his blade, 256 ram and tft screen, flash MCRi 2.2 rom in future?

Posted

Well, at the very least I can probably turn this dump into a MCRi superboot and MCR ROM for V880 users to use.

P

as an experiment, I extracted the kernel and ramdisk, and then repacked it...

poking around the ramdisk, I noticed tho, the android boot.bmp is upside down... interesting...

Upside down or flipped horizontally? It's flipped horizontally on the SF.

P

the android logo is deliberately symmetrical so I cant say about it being horizontally flipped, but flipped horizontally...

it could show that the display hardware is different,,, hence upside down..

Also of note, I've booted my phone from the repacked kernel... and the touch screen is not working....

It seems that we have a totally different TS controller, what is understandable, different screen, different controller. We would need the driver of SF in the ROM of the v880.. that seems impossible without the kernel source..

Just repack the boot image with the Blade kernel. It looks like the 2.2 rom is using 2.6.29 anyway.
