Guest pinglis Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 can anyone tell me if the co-pilot stand alone uk/ireland or the europe maps are the most accurate for everyday uk use

Guest Andysan Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 (edited) ive got co pilot, very nice, but when i type a letter in say a w for whitby, i get about 3 w's ! anyway to slow it down? lol, the text repeat rate Correct me if I'm wrong but you are actually experiencing the autosuggest bug - if you have your keyboard set to autosuggest words as you type, these will all be dumped into text fields in CoPilot (a bug in the app, not Andorid/keyboard). Annoyingly you cant just flick back to the stock keyboard within CoPilot either, you have to come out of the app. The solution is either to come out of the app and change keyboards, turn off auto suggest or install Smart Keyboard which automatically disables auto-suggest for CoPilot only. Guest Sier Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 I bought NavDroyd. Works fine + offline maps, and only about 3 pounds.
Guest Ali. Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 I've tried Navigon and NDrive, both work well. Are they navigating without consuming mobile data.

Guest Andysan Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 lol, thats a pretty game breaking bug, does it do that consistently? Yep, its not intermittent, it just plain doesnt work.
Guest dadashi Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) I've got both software installed on my SF (Sebastian R4) The co-pilot works, has voice commands installed. It works but doesn't give any direction commands. In the settings the voice command icon is greyed out but in the audio settings the voice is installed and the voice test works! Anybody had similar problem? The Navigon works great calculating shorter distances inside the country. The voice guidance works great. But can't calculate routes over the border. The maps are installed and I can give an address say in Paris and it finds and shows it on the map but it can't calculate the route. A message pops up telling: could not calculate route (472), I can't find anything on google... Edited October 22, 2010 by dadashi
Guest dwl99 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 for the voice problem make sure you have selected one of the voices marked with an asterisk. You might also need TTS installed on your phone.

Guest lovelldr Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Have navigon installed myself, and just tried putting a route in to my in-laws in France, and it calculated the route perfectly... Quite suprised the route it gave, as that's the route we used to go on, but got fed up with the country roads to get on to the M11, so went M1 way instead. But calculates to go to France no probs... Only have the UK and French maps installed, so dunno whether it's a map problem?!

I've deleted and installed three times but it's the same. Doesn't calculate over the border...

Doesn't calculate over the border... Theres a version of Navigon that won't calculate cross border navigation, as it's a cracked version..Did you buy it, as if you did, it will work. if you didn't it won't as it's just a demo, thats been cracked.
Guest Neil5459 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 None of the voices I downloaded have an *asterisk. When I download from the phone with co-pilot none of the voices are marked with asterisks. What is TTS? TTS = Text to Speech. When installed, the voice will speak the road names and numbers as well as the directions. This is a £4 add-on It is only TTS voices that show with an asterisk (mine is Emily). You don't need to select one with an asterisk but the fact that yours don't work might suggest an error in either the program installation or the file path. Did you install from ALKs site or manually? It might be worth removing and reinstalling. All my voices, with or without asterisks, work fine.

It's chargeable on Windows mobile, but TTS is free on Android, for Copilot. I've attached the TTS files I've used for nearly a year, on my old phone, and the SF, as well, and these work in all programmes I've tried. *- installs to the SD card, in a folder called "SVOX", and is selectable in the audio options on your phone, and/or in Copilot and others. Not too great though.."Welcome to Ki-Pill-it" is what it says..PicoLangInstaller.zip Edited October 22, 2010 by RottenFoxBreath
Guest Neil5459 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Ahh- thanks. I just transferred my existing WM license to the SF so didn't realise the charging model was different!

LOL, they did try to charge for it too, at one point, but i remember reading on their blog, they ahh'ed and umm'ed as it was pointed out that TTS was a free download, for Android, on the market(which i cant find now, only TTS Extended, which is rubbish).

WHat could have changed in between I don't know.... maybe something changed in the app when I went on line in between.....?

It's the one I use on my phones, its POI are great, at least for Portugal (it's a portuguese app, so that could explain it :P ), and with v10 it got better, supporting itineraries and lane assist.
Guest mario999 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Thanks for the heads up about NDrive. UK map is only about £10. Some of the feedback is a bit negative on the store, such as no Postcode search. Anyway, will DL and have a go. Cheers

Guest dadashi Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 the big names are offering around 30 days free trial, such as navigon, sygic and copilot. I haven't got any links to post but they are easy to find thru google...
