Guest pinglis Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Navigon is my favourite one, big install though on the data partition. I have tried to intsall navigon but it refuses to recognise that my phone has an sd card installed would love to try this as it looks like a great alternative to the igo i used on my wm omnia any ideas?
Guest MIKEYMC Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Got copilot for my san fran and was just wondering is mine chugging along as I am using a2sd on kitchen rom. Or is copilot a bit intensive for the sanfran/blade.
Guest Freekers Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I tried co-pilot but I found it horrible. The GUI is really bad imho. I can recommand 'Sygic Mobile Maps 10'. Love it !
Guest Simon O Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I tried Sygic Aura and it crashes my phone. NDrive works fine and Navigon. Both use offline maps.
Guest dadashi Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) I drove straight across Europe last week, from Bournemouth to Munich and back using the San Francisco with CoPilot....worked fine....but it took me straight down the E41 to Brussels and thats always congested. Garmin is a little more intelligent, it drives down to Lille then thru Belgium.... CoPilot over estimates time of arrival so you get to the ferry earlier...apparently Sygic under estimates the time, so you get to your destination later and it reckoned about 130km less than the actuall distance! it wasn't with the robin... Guest veehexx Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 what about the pre-installed 'Navigation'? ie: google maps offline. i know it's only in beta but it got me from A > B the other day without issues. i've not checked out other features like POI's etc. also, there are tools out there that will auto-download the gmaps content for offline use. i wish i bookmarked the site now B) i've got a feeling it was linked to on these forums anyway. what is NDrive like in the UK/europe? i've heard (a few years ago) it's more geared around USA navigation and couldnt compete with the european units like tomtom/igo/navigon. based on my WM6 experiences, if you could merge igo8 with tomtom, then you'd have a killer nav app.
Guest MIKEYMC Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 Would be good but myself and my wife hate the google voice.
Guest dadashi Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 Google maps is fine in UK because you can download maps and don't need a data connection. But in Europe I don't think you can download the maps yet, you're only allowed that in UK... so no good for the holidays...

Guest mobile579 Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 what about the pre-installed 'Navigation'? ie: google maps offline. i know it's only in beta but it got me from A > B the other day without issues. i've not checked out other features like POI's etc. I am using BrutMaps which gives maps off line but how do you get Navigation offline? i.e. downloading the routing information and route imagery - I just get data connection lost when trying to navigate even though I have the Google Map tiles downloaded? I have tried searching for Google Maps Offline and can't find anything to install? TIA
Guest targetbsp Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Google Maps to get official offline caching! http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/...offline_caching
Guest iantib Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 To all you Orange SanFrancisco experts. I have a san fran with the tft screen so I cant update the rom so have to stay with the orange one for now. Will CoPilot work on this phone or do you need to upgrade the rom? If I'm on PAYG will using a satnav eat up all my credit? I know when we were looking at these phones in the shop the orange salesman warned us that if we were to use the orange sat nav version his advice to us was to go on a contract rather than payg as he said that the satnav ate up all the payg credit. He said the reason was that satnave ket having to do constant downloads all the time as you moved along your route. He really sounded like he knew what he was talking about.
Guest robsen Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Sygic Mobile Maps 10 for Android I Think its the best Offline SatNav at all. Look at the link. If You want to see all you have to be member of the forum. http://www.gsmfreeboard.com/showthread.php?t=161984
Guest =WBG=Cpt_Custard Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Ive gotta say the Aura and iGO are my personal favourite.....as long as you download the maps in WiFi mode and just use the GPS ( not server assisted ) then it wont cost you anything. I can pm you the Aura if you would like as its on a small APK file Theres another dissucsion on the Aura satnav on these boards over at http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...e/#entry1489027 Edited December 14, 2010 by =WBG=Cpt_Custard

With any stock or custom rom you could use CoPilot or any sat nav app. You can remove the unwanted orange apps by diferent ways (serach in the forum) And you can install a custom room if you want, check this: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/ About the data ussage all depends how much you use the pnone and what is your data allownace. Orange has a pretty bad data allownace, and this Tesco and T-Mobile has beeter offers right know although I am with Giffgaff - unlimited internet on PAYG - if you wnat to join them send me a pirvate message and we both could earn £5 credit. Hope this help you :)
