Guest targetbsp Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Google Maps 5 is now out with offline caching for sat nav. :)
Guest lpinho Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Motonav does have postcode search - I think you need to enter it in either the suburb of street field. I believe motonav has maps for all of europe, north america, south/central america, asia, australia, NZ CoPilot 8 doesnt have as many maps as Motonav - it only has 3 I think! CoPilot 8 has more than 3 maps, but they only put 3 maps in the market. I bought the Iberia map on their site directly
Guest dadashi Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I used CoPilot and drove to southern Germany and back without a hitch, it uses navigon map sources so it's up to date. I prefer it to Sygic McDrive.
Guest G0DSPEED Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Sygic Mobile Maps 10 is the bestest in the world...... evar! (Only joking) :)

Guest UbaRolfey Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) I don't understand how all these are really any better than the google navigation, it comes with turn by turn speach, it has a 3d view, POI's, the only thing I find is lacking really is speed camera's. It even has up to date traffic, it's a winner all round, especially as it's free. :) Oh and it's smooooooooooooooth, not lagger at all, that was the biggest suprise. Mike You can preload Google UK and USA maps to navigate offline here, but not in the rest of the world...and that's when you'll need navigation the most... That's when you need a reliable navigation with uptodate maps without using expensive data connection... I wish Garmin would finally release an Android version, they were on the navigation market 15 years ago before google was ever realised...
Guest MIKEYMC Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Can't stand stephen hawkins telling me where to go.
Guest Arr Too Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Can't stand stephen hawkins telling me where to go. Although, to be fair, he'll only do that if you spill his pint.
Guest targetbsp Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 You can preload Google UK and USA maps to navigate offline here How do you do that?

Mike How do you install british voice pack for google maps. I tried on my blade first time, it asked me install voice pack from market, which I did, but it is ALL in American English, and paining my ears. So I fianlly tried SYGIC and so far quite happy with it. Also would like to know how do I install ALL of UK Maps in my SD Card for google maps? Edited December 17, 2010 by Niks10
Guest shteve Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 If you're using Sygic Mobile, here's a link to two British female voices. For some reason, having a woman telling me what to do feels more natural ;-) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LDXC9V7X The navigation in Aura doesn't seem as good to me, so I've uninstalled that. I used Sygic MM on my WinMo phone, and it's just as good on Android. Copilot seemed a bit slow, and that's on a Desire (I'm in this forum as I bought the missus a SanFran).
Guest TomskWomble Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 I'll be buying co-pilot sometime, but I did notice it's possible to get more maps for your money. From ALK's website, prices are App + Euro maps = £58 App + USA/Canada maps = £20 Euro maps upgrade = £39 Buy the App + USA/Canada maps & Euro maps upgrade = £20 + £39 = £59 Just £1 more than App + Euro maps!
Guest tom619 Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Hi there firstly did anyone go to the blade from the tmobile pulse? if you did, did you use your free copilot that you may have got from t-mobile in your blade? if so i need help. i installed co pilot live on my blade and there is no voice/speech at all which is rather useless. it plays all the other sounds like when you select something, just no speech. Ive tried manually replacing the speech folder but didnt work. someone please help! thanks
Guest MIKEYMC Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I've now switched to sygic. It is so much smoother and better then co-pilot. Also got a discount code from xda forums so got it for just over £19.
Guest Hanks6 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 this thread is relevant to something i've been looking into. need to try and hookup my sisters SF for offline navigating when she goes travelling shortly. will need to be able to download/cache maps for multiple places, namely australia/new zealand and a couple of places in south-east asia. reading the comments, presume i cannot cache all the maps for these areas through google nav. co-pilot certainly seems to have the packs available. any other suggestions/ideas for solid offline navigating in different continents?
Guest dadashi Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I installed the latest version of Aura Sygic on my SF and it works a treat, better than Mobile Maps from Sygic. You can download newest maps from all over the world straight unto the phone, no extra costs...
Guest tsddave Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 is the cpu up to it ? Works well for me :D
Guest ellhead Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 man that's an expensive app lol. I've been using Google navigation with no problems. a note is that my blade draws more than 2.5w of power using navigation. if copilot is more intensive you'll need a good car charger.
