* Class 0 - These cards do not specify performance, which includes all legacy cards prior to class specifications.

* Class 2 - Minimum of 2 MB/s performance. Lowest speed for SDHC cards.

* Class 4 - Minimum of 4 MB/s performance.

* Class 6 - Minimum of 6 MB/s performance.

* Class 10 - Minimum of 10 MB/s performance.

So you would have a class 4

Well, if we are being pedantic the rate the the card "topped out at" is meaningless. We need to know the minimum transfer speed that the card achieved to calculate the class. I would imagine it'll turn out to be Class 4 anyway but it's certainly quite possible to have a Class 2 that will do 5.5Mb sec.

Also if the card was empty then it's not a fair test as the test specifies the transfer rate of frangmented files not contiguous.

I see, are there any specific apps i could use to determine the class of the card?

any ideas?

Not really. Class is a sort of minimum guarantee. A class 2 card could outperform a class 6 card for any given test, it's just that the class 6 has a higher minimum guaranteed speed. This makes testing pretty difficult.

If it's fast enough for what you want then be happy. :)

I'm having a strange problem with a Kingston 8 GB class 4 card. The phone will only use it if it is freshly formatted. If I plug the phone in to my PC and transfer a file (any file) the phone start to alternate between SD card removed and SD card found.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Do you think there is a problem with the phone or is it the SD card?

Hi, just like to say that I am using a 16gb class 2 in my SF from my old G1, running apps2sd like I did on the G1 and works for me.

I think I'll be ordering one of these on Monday,...

http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/MyMem...Card---Class--4

MyMemory 16GB Micro SD (SDHC) Card - Class 4

£17.99 Delivered

Warranty 5 Years

Class: Class 4

Read Speed: 20MB/s

I bought this card and it doesnt work with my SF (unexpectedly removed on every write).

The card works fine on laptop.

Is there anything I can do about it or is it just incompatible?

I've also just bought one of these and got exactly the same results - un-mounts every time I try and write files to it :)

Same as my card. I formatted it in the phone and it was then recognised and working fine.

I was thinking the same thing lol. Even a Class 10 32Gb Micro SD shouldn't cost that much.

working now, strangely enough when formating I never got a notification that it was successful, I guess it is a problem with sebs 2.2 ROM

I've got the same problem with a 16Gb Kingston Class 4 (verified genuine) card.

I did that, and it worked OK for a while but then gave "card unexpectedly removed" or some such when I started copying a lot of data to it.

I'm told it is a popular strategy for sellers to revise the price when they are out of stock. It costs nothing; and avoids re-listing fees.

It has been said here that most people wouldn't buy one at that price, but if anyone did that the vendor would surely go out of their way to fulfil the order.

Same here. Kingston 16GB randomly "SD card unexpectedly removed". Gonna purchase a replacement soon, but trying to find out which cards are 100% supported/long term tested.

Another thread, microSD cards that deficiently work

No one has reported a problem with this class 10 card (write speed of 10 Mbytes a second)

Also... a quick way to test the speed of your card can be found here (from the thread above)

In our Greek forum myPhone we have created a list with compatible mSDhc cards that work with Blade. JFYI, this lot Transcend Cards (Taiwan) work beautifully...
