Guest p shields Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) Hi guys, I've successfully rooted my device, then downloaded the R2 image file and renamed it 'mcri-system.tar.gz' . I then put it onto the phones SD card, disconnected it from the computer, restarted the phone, now its permanently stuck on the orange logo. I tried clearing the user data and following Paul's rooting and MCRi method, but Terminal throws up "ERROR: could not clear input pipe; result -536870163< waiting for device >". I haven't a clue what this means. Can somebody please help? Can it be fixed? I'm worried as I just bought the phone yesterday. Cheers. Edited October 3, 2010 by p shields

Guest p shields Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Try deleting the 'mcri-system.tar.gz' file from the SD card. I did, it's still stuck on the Orange bootup logo. This phone is so frustrating...
Guest hillmie87 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I did, it's still stuck on the Orange bootup logo. This phone is so frustrating... My advice would be return it to orange to get a new phone. did you buy it yourself? regards
Guest Rem1x Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Download MCR with Internet Explorer, :)
Guest p shields Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I'm hoping it doesn't come to me having to return it. Yes I bought the phone myself. I cant really use internet explorer as I'm on a mac, but I successfully downloaded the file with firefox. Does anyone else have the same problem, being stuck on the orange bootup screen? Cheers.

Guest David Horvath Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 Download MCR with Internet Explorer, :) you should keep away from iE, FF and Chrome/Chromium should do a better job than ie.. mad ideas.. -.-
Guest Gerson2k Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) I'm new to Andriod and rooted and flashed my SF to the r2 rom last night with only a minor hiccup when rooting. Are you rooting and copying the rom from a Windows OS? If so please check you do not have the "hide extensions for known file types" as an option in Windows Explorer as you then end up with a file .gz.gz when you do the rename; some forum members had this problem. Guest p shields Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 I'd managed to root the phone without a problem, the issue only came about when I put the new custom ROM onto the SD card and power cycled the phone. I switch it on and it sticks on the Orange logo. If anymore information is needed just let me know. I really need to get this sorted and have no clue how to go about it.

Make sure you have your Mac set to show file extensions. http://www.fileinfo.com/help/mac-show-extensions.html Now look to see if the file has .gz.gz at the end. It sould only have .gz once. If .gz is there twice rename the file to remove one of the .gz Now reboot.
