Weird Notification icon

i have a weird notification on the top left corner that looks like this (a picture of a sim card and a small gear beside it)

and there is no desrciption on it and there is no such notification icon on the user manual. this icon just comes out of no where, normally after few hours i turned on the phone.

whenever i get this icon, my widgets start to load at super slow speed and everything seems to lags for a while before getting to normal speed. the clock on the weather widget r not refreshing but the normal clock widget seems to work fine.

this icon disappears after i reboot the phone n appear few hours later.. its starting to get my nerve.. so yea

does anyone have any idea wad this icon means? n how do i get rid of it? help please. much appreciated..

Hi,

It means the phone is re detecting the SD card. It might not be properly inserted.

That's almost identical to the "No Sim Card Inserted" icon except it has the gear icon next to it....Try checking Sim Toolkit to see if it's running and stop it.

You either have a faulty sim card, Sim Toolkit, or it needs re-inserted or checked.

I checked again.. i realised i only get this icon after i make a call i tried fiddling with the sim toolkit but it still wont go away..i ll try using a different sim card next time thanks anyway

I have posted a fix to remove the SIM Card/Cog notification (which appears to be related to Vodafone NZ only SIM cards) from the top task bar of your Android phone (non rooted) refer to link below:
