Guest wakaru Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) rowanmoor; Could you provide us with some more information, such as the resistor value and whitch pins need to be connected. I may want to try that out myself as well  Edited May 9, 2011 by wakaru
Guest rowanmoor Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 What I have found so far is summed up in this XDA thread Here. I have no idea at this point if the resistor values are the same for the blade as for the Captivate that the thread was using it for. I'm going to start by getting some cheep cables/converters and cutting them up to see what I can get working.
Guest ups Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Bringing this back from the grave! I made a few tests and I couldn't find any resistor value that would trigger a Home or Card dock mode. As anyone else tried to do the same?
Guest Akira81 Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 this one .. but is too much expansive for my pocket http://www.mountonus.com/ZTE-Blade/Brodit-...2235-33345.aspx
Guest rowanmoor Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 I made a few tests and I couldn't find any resistor value that would trigger a Home or Card dock mode. As anyone else tried to do the same? I found the same. I didn't get round to trying a variable resistor and working slowly from one end to the other though. I am not going to get any time to look at it in the near future either. From what I have read it depends on the USB chipset used. So one possible way of tackling this is to find out what USB chipset is used and then try to find some documentation for it (forums like this seem to come up with surprising amounts of information like this that I would have thought would never be public!) Even if there is no documentation available then it may be possible to find what other phones use the same chip and how they are triggered.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) This is not necessarily a useful post... But I was forced to watch the apprentice earlier and there was a rather funky (Gorrila pod-like) "Universal [something]" EDIT: Okay its called a spiderpodium Basically its a kind of wire spider which you can use as a phone stand/in car dock etc. Not sure how great it is as a dock etc but it was rather funky as a stand... However its ridiculously expensive and you might as well make your own. Sorry for the off topic post :) Edited June 24, 2011 by Mushroom_Lord
Guest FelixL Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Okay, just to bring in a wired new idea: http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/06/qa-with-...one-modder.html http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/06/how-to-m...ss-charger.html Does anybody like to try it? If it holds the Evo, it should be strong enough for the Blade. My only problem: the Evo is charged at 1A by the stock wall charger, the Touchstone delivers 1A...but the Blade only charges with 700mA. Does anybody know if this could get a problem? With a normal wall charger this would not be, since they only deliver 5V and don't care how much amperes the phone pulls as long as it's under the maximum available, but with this technology... By the way, together it's under $19, if you already have a USB car charger: http://www.amazon.com/Palm-Pre-Touchstone-...ref=pd_cp_cps_2 http://www.amazon.com/Palm-Touchstone-Char...ref=pd_cp_cps_0 Edit: okay, the amperage part should (!) work. Now we only need someone to try it and tell if it works B) "Just" connect the right pins of the palm-pre coil to the power-pins of the usb-port somewhere inside the Blade. I'm not responsible for anyone killing his device, but if somebody tries and it works, let me know :) Edited June 24, 2011 by FelixL
Guest ups Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Nice hack, but the compass will also stop working.
