R3 or R2

hey guys,

Just recieved my san fran today and am going to unlock and root it. After reading through various topics it seems the r3 has a few issues over r2. Couldn't anyone enlighten me as to what the main issues are and whether or not it is worth me flashing is to r2 instead? Thanks.

I've had no issues after I rebooted a few times

Main issues I had with r3 was the cpu running at >90% resulting in the phone behaving slow and jerky.

However a lot of people have installed r3 without having these issues, so you may not be affected.

For me I'm back on r2 for the moment

Best bet is to try them yourself, i like the r3 better than the r2 as it seems faster and a lot smoother but it does not put the phone to sleep when i press the power button (small thing but something i use) so i have gone back to r2 as i like to put the phone to sleep,so in a nut shell play with both and see what you like.

mine also seemed to lag and generally more sluggish with r3. However, I've since found out that installing launcherpro does improve things (for me anyways), but like someone said the only way to find out is to try it for yourself it's a pretty simple procedure to load either one just make sure you follow Paul's procedure and download the r2/r3 images using IE (there were some issues with other browsers and file extensions).

I just noticed my phone is locked at 71% cpu :/ this is on r3

i think tom619 is on about the fact that the r2 image has been removed from the board. He's right, it's no longer available for download. Since this is Paul's work I think you should ask him I can't assume I have his permission to send it to you. I'm sure if you ask him he'll direct you to the right place.

on r3, task managers got mine idling around 10%cpu but right now its at 40% memory any ideas why?

Check what tasks are running, most apps don't close when you click on th home button and just sit using resoures... anyone have a good util for clearing up closed apps? Also, am I safe uninstalling mail and gmail apps?

As for r3, no problems, power switch does put phone to sleep and cpu is generally pretty low all the time, unless something resource hungry is sitting in the background.
