@Paul from what i can make out he has flashed the rom file to his phone without doing the superboot\root, not sure if that will work or not.......

Sounds like the update file you put on your memory card was a bad download.

Pit your memory card in a card reader and put the file back on, having checked the md5 hash or downloaded in a different browser.

If you can follow instructions, you'll sort it out.

Don't return the device, it's not broken. MCRi flashes are effectively brickproof.

OK I'll buy a card reader later.

What is md5 hash?

Thanks

Ok.

Cleared the SD and put on your ROM, changing the name to mcri-system.tar.gz.

Started the phone with V+ and still locked on the green man.

Or, my favourite, HashTab. Adds checksum checking to the Windows context menu. Right-click a file, Properties, File Hashes. So easy :)

http://beeblebrox.org/

Mac version available too ;)

What files shall i compare it to?

Just tried 3 Stone Roses files and they came back bad. Should I try closer ones? If so suggestions please.

Thx

In fact no matter what I seem to check them against they get a big fat red "X".

So if I have a corrupt file can I have a link to a good one?

In fact every file I check and compared in come back with a "X".

Boy, I need a bit of luck/knowledge with this.

What if this is case? What can I do as I stare forlornly at the little green man who has dominated my lovely new phone for the past three days?

Your download of the ROM is almost certainly 'bad'.

Use something like this to verify: http://download.cnet.com/MD5-Checker/3000-...4-10410639.html

Hi Paul or Fibblesan,

Really need your help guys, had my phone rooted and had rc2 on there, I installed some apps and cleaned some apps using root explorer everything was working fine but I decided that I was going to put rc3 on and eventually clockworkload. So I decided to format my SD card using the phone, and factory reset the phone and start a fresh. Once I did this I restarted the phone and there was a black screen and and no menu whatsoever at the time I was using launcherpro.

Anyway I thought it might have been a glitch so I downloaded RC3 and installed on the SD card, once I turned on the phone the orange logo appeared and stayed there for over 15 mins so I knew something was wrong, anyway I re-rooted the phone again from scratch and tried again this time the phone will not even get to the orange logo almost as if everything has been wiped??.

Please please anyhelp would be appreciated guys.

Thanks again

Maverick

have you read the instructions, you should only be pressing volume up when you are doing the dos commands for superboot

Step by step install instructions

•Download r3 Superboot / MCRi for ZTE Blade - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: 03105bbbf5120535c8921075822a1b67

•Download fastboot if you do not have it already.

•Turn off your phone and take out the battery. Unplug the phone from the PC / charger.

•Replace the battery and turn the phone back on with 'volume up' held. The device will stay at the 'green android' screen.

•Plug the phone into the PC.

•Extract the fastboot zip file.

•From a command prompt (at the directory containing these new files!) run 'fastboot-windows flash boot boot.blade.superboot.mcri.r3.img' (subsituting fastboot-mac or fastboot-linux as required)

•When this finishes, from the command prompt run 'fastboot-windows reboot' (again substituting fastboot-mac or fastboot-linux as required)

•Done!

No, see above....

I've got exactly the same problem, I managed to get the phone from the green man to the orange logo but i'm stuck again.

I did this by restarting phone and keeping + pressed.

Opened fastboot and run these 2 files I downloaded.

fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery.blade.stock.img

fastboot-windows flash boot boot.blade.stock.img

It said okay for both, I then restarted the phone and had the orange logo back, so I thought great I will re-root the phone then either run the stock image or Rc3, problem is everytime I run the file to root boot.blade.superboot.mcri.r3.img, it works fine but after a restart gets stuck again on the green android.

I know this would be an easy fix to some experienced head out there, just a few questions, what is the easiest way to get back to stock completely?, also what is stock.img used for the file is over 200mb extracted, following the flash of both the recovery and boot files I did also attempt to put a rom on my sd card but again nothing happens, so that is why I attempted to re-root thinking that root had been deleted some way and that is way the roms would not install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, btw the files are not corrupt and in fact I have downloaded them around half a dozen times each, if no joy will be going back to orange.

Last night I tried running it through my Ubuntu Joggler. Recognised as a Palm OS on System, however could not communicate with phone as I imagine it could not get pass UBS mounting question (i.e., do you want to link via usb). I believe this is the issue and unless there is a way around this, as I sure there is, the phone is unaccessible - a San Francisco in a coma..

What happened to me is normally when I plug phone into usb (Windows 7) it picks the phone up in the corner and I can safely remove, since all this the phone works via fastboot and communicates but it doesn't show anything in Windows, so I have wiped everything clear and I have installed stock boots and managed to get to the orange logo but thats it, I tried putting a rom on the sd at that point but nothing, so I re-installed super boot using fastboot it seems ok, I again add a rom to the sd card but this time when I rebot the phone i'm permantely stuck on the green android.

Its def a software issue, what I'd like to know from the mods is using solely fastboot how can we totally reset/install the phones software?

also is there anyway to actually see what is installed on the phone?, with my case I may have two superboots installed on different names as I used the rc2 and rc3 version, so this may cause it to crash?.

With your case I believe it is def a usb issue with windows, possibly try reinstalling the drivers manually, or use a different pc if you can, or keep on trying fastboot until it responds.

Are there any hard reset codes we don't know about?

Good luck, im gonna try a couple of days no joy and it will have to go back :)

Reset code would be GOOD!

No there is no way to see what is on the phone.

As long as fastboot is working you have a chance, you can try and load the recovery image and update from that, you can also format\erase from the recovery screen as well as format\erase from fastboot, please do some reading on the command in fastboot as you may make it worst than it already is.

Try and write the recovery image to the phone and see what happends and if that is ok, in fastboot type fastboot reboot recovery and it should start in recovery monde and from that you should beable to wirte a new rom.

Ok this is little guide for windows.

First download android sdk

http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

and extract it to you desktop, now found the cmd.exe file (c:\windows\system32) copy and paste it to the tools folder in the android sdk you downloaded, once you have pasted it in the folder make a shortcut to the desktop (just make things quicker that way).

In the tools folder put:

Superboot\root image http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...boot-root-mcri/ rename file to root.r3.img

Recovery image http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...rkmod-recovery/ rename file to recovery.r2.img

All done move on to the next part.................

Remove battery from phone....put battery back in and restart while holding the V+.............wait for the little green man and then put the USB cable in (install drivers if need be)

Flash Root

Open the shortcut to cmd and type in fastboot flash boot root.r3.img........once done type in fastboot reboot..........phone should now reboot

Flash Recovery

Open the shortcut to cmd and type in fastboot flash recovery recovery.r2.img once done type in fastboot reboot (or remove battery and restart)once the phone has powered up open cmd and type in adb reboot recovery and phone should start in the recovery screen

Not 100% sure on the options in recovery as yet but you can format a few things and install from a zip file which is a great help, as long at the boot file gets flashed right you should be about to repair this, short of all that take it back and get a replacement or pop it in the post and i will have alook at it for you.

Having problems with cmd and getting it to recovery screen at the mo, so dont try it, sorted it so have edited post to so it.
