Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Its true : you just can't kill the blade - you can always (almost) get back your device. zillfish had the problem of a dodgy USB cable - I learned something new today - and updated the guide with the new knowledge.

Guest hecatae Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) good to hear it was just a faulty usb cable, I was reaching the point where the solution looked like the pc was not providing enough power to your blade Edited December 16, 2010 by hecatae
Guest ch0rlt0n Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) Similar issue, but i've successfully rooted the phone and been running Paul's 2.2 Modaco ROM since Christmas. Phone was working fine this morning. Rebooted it as I have one app, (MyTaptu) a newsfeed which occasionally doesn't update itself, but a reboot fixes. The phone hasn't come out of reboot. I do have clockwork 2.5.1.8 installed and can get into it. I'm on XP at the moment but know I have working drivers IF I can get the phone to regsiter as a USB device at all. Behaviour.Switch on. Phone is frozen on Android logo. Doesn't get as far as the Modaco ROM image. No difference if SDCard is present or not. Can only get out of this by removing power/battery.Can get into clockwork (2.5.1.8). Browsing to Restore results in "Couldn't open directory. No files found". this is odd as there should be three or four backup images present and I've tested them in the past. (dodgy SD card? but removing card makes no difference?)Choosing "Apply update from .zip file on SD Card" seems to allow me to browse the SDCard so it looks OK (except clockwordmod dir seems to have no files)Connecting to the PC doesn't register as a USB device so no attempt is made to load driver. Cable is OK as booting to bootloader does load the bootloader interface driver. (But I already have clockwork so not sure this is needed). Possibly useful info: A large number of apps have updated since the last reboot, including BusyBox. I also moved a number of apps to the SDCard. The SDCard has plenty of space but the phone's internal memory was getting full. I'm sure the phone is recoverable if I'm willing to blitz it, but wonder which options from Clockwork are "safe" to maintain as much data as possible on the phone/card. Flushing the Dalvik cache, etc. I'm at work at the moment but can try more advanced (Linux) options tonight. Thanks! Edited April 14, 2011 by ch0rlt0n
Guest jamidodger1 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Have you tried mounting USB Storage? or putting Microsd card in a microsd card reader and checking it for error's with Windows/Linux/Mac?
Guest ch0rlt0n Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Have you tried mounting USB Storage? or putting Microsd card in a microsd card reader and checking it for error's with Windows/Linux/Mac? Can't mount as USB Storage as the phone isn't registered as a device on the PC at all (unless in bootloader mode). Micro SD card adapter is at home so will check tonight. Just could really do with it "working" before then :) Clockwork Backup is currently running. I'll see where that gets saved since attempts to Restore have been resulting in "Can't Open Directory" Thanks.
Guest ch0rlt0n Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Created a backup successfully, then reinstalled the Modaco R7 ROM. I was expecting this to wipe the phone but the phone now boots and everything is in place (call logs, sms, game saves) So phew. Thanks to anyone who looked/spent time thinking about this.
