Blade: How may I change the "MoDaCo" boot logo to my own?

How did you push the framework back to the phone? Can you post the update.zip you made?

Is the boot animation limited to the 24 frames in the MCRi ROM?

If I want to use more that 24 frames could I just add more files and continue the convention of sequential numbers in the filename suffix (e.g. OUK_480x800_25.png, OUK_480x800_26.png etc)?

Reason for asking is that I have a boot animation I'd like to use from an existing bootanimation.zip file but it has 62 frames.

Anyone willing/able to post ones they've made themselves? I updated to one I saw on the villainrom forums not realising it wouldn't loop and it looks shite when it just sits there on the last frame of the anim!

I made a Bios botting screen but can't get it too run on the phone. Tried to make an update.zip, signed it but doesn't work. Logcat says nothing.

I've looped it just so that you can see it in action, this is just version 1 so might need to change it once I can get it pushed to the phone.

Read all this with interest. A tutorial with 'noobs' or 'nervous' peeps in mind would be nice.

Having said that though, I really like my MoDaCo guy! :) (Thanks P :) )

Will.

MADE TUTORIAL!

have made a tutorial for noobs and/or anyone who wants a definative simple giude to adding a custom boot screen! it is attached as both a .pdf and as a .doc download in whatever format you want. or if you just want to view just click the pdf and if you have a reader intalled most people do then it will open in a new tab.

i made it with plenty of sceen shots on win 7 as i though this is what most noobs use as it is what comes with laptops and computers also i cite the 10's of threads saying "i don't know how to 'download/install/use' windows 7 (or xp) drivers HELP!!" but the same applies to any version of windows. i can also made tutorials for lunix (ubuntu) and osx and xp if there is demand

GLOSSYWHITE - maybe you could cite my post /tutorial or attach it to original post- this will be of use to evry body saying "i want to do it but i'm not sure exactly how to?"

please note i only tossed this together quickly so it hasn't got fancy graphics

That tutorial isn't to do an update.zip method though thats flashing the whole ROM all over again. Thats OK I can do it that method but seems to be some sort of protection again as it did with the Hero G2 where you can't overwrite the framework-res.apk. Nice tutorial though.

this is the quickest/easiest way to do it and flashing the rom only takes a handful of seconds.i'm not sure what you mean i could over rite the framework-res.apk fien infact i used the exact same method as in tutorial and it works perfectly on my sanfransico.

my bootanimation had already been changed. My SF is rooted and running r3 at the moment. All i had to do is download the zip on the first page, renamed it to droid.zip, pushed it to the sdcard and then loaded via clockworkmod. I don't know why anyone would want to reload the whole rom just to do this. Just select the appropriate zip via the recovery mode and its all done. Worked first time.

Yeh, got it :) Started a thread for my bootscreen animations via clockwork recovery via update.zip method. Thanks for the help.

So, I replaced all files (24 .PNG's) with my own custom animation and it will only loop once as an animation, How would i make it loop continuously throughout the booting process ?

Is there a line of code in an .xml file ?

It shouldn't only loop once...it could be by the time it's taken to render the images the ROM has loaded. Care to share?

What i done was extracted framework-res.apk - Opened with 7zip and replaced all 24 files with the ones attached.

I don't know how to create a flashable .zip

The animation runs from file 01 ~ 24 then stops and a white screen is present until the boot process is finished, Coincidently, I filled the last three images with a pure white background to bring the animation up from 21 images to 24.

Any help would be appreciated, It's actually a birthday present for my kid so, I was hoping to have it all customized in time.

@cesar67

# What you need to do is download one of the bootscreens in this thread 1st post, and replace your framework-res.apk with the one in that zip file. This will let you update it via clockwork recovery.

If i replace my framework with another, How would that enable my own animation ?

You replace the images in framework-res.apk before you replace the framework-res.apk in the bootscreen file.

Is that not the same as what i done in the first place ?

Pulled framework-res.apk straight from the phone, Replaced the images, leaving the naming system and directory structure exactly the same, Pushed back to the phone.

Why no looping animation ? Why would the other framework-res.apk's you suggested make looping work ?

Is there an .xml file somewhere ? Some other setting for looping ?

Sorry if i don't follow, I would like to understand what i am doing wrong.

Would removing the animation decrease the boot time at all?
