Guest mmp669 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Just installed 1.2 nobb version. What can I say, it's great. All my apps worked perfectly, Gmail setup fine, market works fine, rotation works fine (haven't tried it with youtube yet). Dell stage UI is very nice, personally I like it a lot better than the other launchers. And it's very fast indeed, at least it's not slower than ADW with 1.11. Keep up the great work. At last, I didn't do any tweaking or what so ever, just installed 1.2 on top of 1.1.1 and it's all good.

Guest BooToo Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) I know I am going to get a lot of comments on this one but would it be possible to be more explicit to WHERE is the dowload link for the ROM? I see the Streakdroid site link which has a dowload section and an update option. Is that it? I am worried as it does not have any indication of the ROM version number... Thanks in advance for the clarification. EDIT: Ok, Found it at the bottom of the first post... Dooooh. Edited November 5, 2010 by BooToo
Guest zrospeed Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Guys, I think I found the cause of the data partition not getting wiped with factory reset. Some of us have the old clockwork mod for 1.6 still installed (symptoms are constantly flashing lights and no adb shell in recovery). what you need to do is install the koush's 2.1 clockwork repack found in this thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...rboot-recovery/ Here's how I got it to work. 1. Flash that recovery in fastboot 2. Reboot into recovery and select second option for clockwork and select partitions menu 3. select format and confirm it for boot, system, data, cache, and sd-ext. 4. go back into main menu and select install zip from sd and install the 1.2.0 release 5. just to be safe, return to main menu and wipe data/factory reset and reboot 6. then boot into recovery one more time, this time no clockwork. select 1 factory reset. 7. after that's said and done, it should take no more than 2-3 mins for boot into home. . does this work? im on v1.2.0 now. but i cant seem to install more apps. apk files i have on sdcard wont install. it keeps saying could not be installed. free up some space and try again. i have only installed 2 apps from the market since upgrading.
Guest amccox Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) Hi guys, the two fixes above havent worked for me. Im stuck on the Dell Screen. (thanks to all the wonderful help on here i had been running v1.0 from the day it was released) when i open ADB Shell i get the following error adb Server is out of date. Killing.... *daemon has started successfully error: device not found then adb shell only returns error:device not found I have to redo the whole update to get back to the adb server is out of date thing and then subsequently repeating the error: device not found adb says it is version 1.0.25, oh and i have an australian streak, with updated baseband and went the updated rom route EDIT 1, ive cancelled adb in task manager and i can get back to the 'server out of date command' again - ADB is showing in device manager as Android composited ADB device EDIT 2 switched to an XP netbook and i get * daemon not running. starting it now * daemon started successfully error: device not found then it just keeps saying error: device not found with any adb command until i kill the app in task manager Edited November 5, 2010 by amccox

Guest sukicat Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) After spending quite a few hours last night installing the new update I finally gave up (locked on the Dell Screen) and put my Streak back to 2.1, the idea was to wait until some of the problems were sorted Today and then put 1.1.1 and finally the 1.2.0 but going back to 2.1 (it was the easiest to do) is like going back to a old friend the Keyboard is great the video is 720p and saves in HD the Battery is brilliant the orientation works has it should, so I might wait for the official update and see what that is like but I probably wont has I dont like giving up and this new update is sure changeling. I left the cable connected and let it boot up as steve mentioned before adb should be usable even if its hanging at the logo. so i just tried the adb shell early in the boot up and it dropped me into the shell fine and the busybox command went it ok too. only then did i get to wipe the data and have it boot up fine. I thought my own flash went smooth first time but had probs with apps so i started again. but getting the out of space error grrrr! ive chmod the data folder to no avail and logcat tells me the fapk has a mismatched uid.

Yup same here out of space error. Can't even install angry birds :) ......I tried installing it and downloads fine but when it trys to install it it reboots ......damn. oh well. will wait for an update.
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 ok folks for those of you having app problems, try going BACK the 1.1.1 - dont downgrade baseband just flash back in clockwork wipe totoally using dell factory reset & clockwoerk partitions menu to wipe data/cache/system then flash 1.2.0 and see if it boots, theirs something not being wiped properly causing this issue as proved by other users who have successfully flashed

Can't even install angry birds :) ......I tried installing it and downloads fine but when it trys to install it it reboots ......damn. oh well. will wait for an update. Same here. Get to a certain point, say 6 apps and I'm now (supposedly) out of space.

Because of an unknown reason after new baseband and 1.2.0 are in place neither CWR nor Dell's recovery do anything to the partitions!!! I personally formatted every partition with CWR and then started Dell's one! Then oh miracle!!! 1.2.0 booted again with all of my setting intact!! even my alarm was there! And this after the format! I'm back to 1.1.1 with the old baseband for now!

Guest RedSlug Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Kind of screwed up and installed the update file before the baseband. But managed to install that this morning and it's working I think. market working for updates and new installs.
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 unlike the older android devices the order that you install the update + baseband doesn matter really. whereas older devices (g1/magic) you could brick them by installing things the wrong way

Guest vyming Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Ouch! I shall definitely read the instructions properly next time :) Hi Stephen, good Job. I had an issue: after update 1.2, the led don't stop flashing every 10 seconds. Please fix that. Thank you.

Guest Graysson Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) The newest version of the adb.exe is 1.0.26. You can get it under \tools from the android sdk together with the 2 dll's. In Clockwork 2.5.0.1 the adb-version is 1.0.25. You MUST NOT be in Fast boot mode. That was my error for nearly 5 hours.^^ Just start the phone with the cable plugged in. Then open a commandline in Windows and navigate to the adb.exe. Then type "adb shell". If you get this prompt "#" you succeeded. Edited November 5, 2010 by Graysson
Guest Graysson Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 @sukicat Most of the people get to that point. After that the problems start. You get an endless boot loop because factory reset doesnt work properly. To fix that you have to go to the adb shell and put in the busybox command to delete the files under /data. If you solve these 2 problems you can boot Android. But then a lot of people get problems installing apps and get forced closes on most of the apps. Steve's solution for that didnt work for me.
