When you upgraded from 1.6 to 2.1 to 2.2-v1.20 did you install 2.2-v1.1.1 first or jump straight to 1.2.0? If not, you need to downgrade to 1.1.1 and follow the directions EXACTLY as they are laid out in post number 1. You may also want to direct any new questions to the new 1.2.0 thread.

Tried going to 1.1.1 first, but that didn't work. And which new thread are you referring to?

You can jump to 1.1.1 but full factory reset is required for it....

Thanks for the detailed answer (!). I'm now sitting here waiting for my streak to boot past the logo. I installed the 1.2.0 update on top of 0.2, but got no mobile network connection, so factory reset the device and rebooted now I'm waiting forever to get past the logo. Loved the 'detailed' response which has now left me with an unusable phone for now. Any advice? My streak just flashes the buttons every few minutes.

Flash baseband 2.1 then flash ROM 1.1.1. AFTER REBOOTING and ensuring that 1.1.1 works, flash new baseband for 1.2, then immediately flash 1.2 ROM. don't do any factory resetting.

You should be up and running 3 minutes after reboot.

Flashing lights usually mean your ROM does not match the baseband.

This is the official announcement of my Froyo ROM for dell streak.

This is supposed to be easy to use right? Love your efforts, but boy do you need some lessons making this presentable to the 'user'.

Instructions are virtually impossible to follow now. Too many links, too many what-if's, too complicated, I'm still trying to recover my streak.

ok just saw your reply appreciate the tips, will try this out, I got a little grumpy about trying to apply this update (as working phone->dead phone is a problem). Will try your tips - thx

you need to

1 - flash Steve 1.1.1

2 - flash the new baseband

3 - flash 1.2 or 1.3

so you need to get the 1.1.1 rom on your sd card

It's wierd to think that only somewhere around 374 people have actually dared to install Stephen's awesome Froyo onto their Streaks... I wonder how many Streaks have been sold worldwide?

Even after Dell release the official firmware - I'm hoping that all the known issues (rotating sensor, video playback with a green stripe, audio drop out and that's about it!) will finally be laid to rest, and we can enjoy all the benefits of a clean, simple, fast OS courtesy of Stephen and Co.

Thanks for all your efforts, and thanks to all of the great users who have taken the time to help each other along the way.

Cheers

Brian (Loving Stephen's Froyo v1.2)

1.1.1 isn't an update is it, its the entire os ?

i just flashed it with clockwork and i'm stuck on the dell logo

i'm a little lost as to where one now starts, the original post has been heavily modified since my last visit and has become a little confusing.

if i'm coming from O2, 2.1, build 8105, baseband 21.. what rom do i first need to flash my unit with to then be able to get to 1.3 with the new baseband ?

You shouldn't factory reset after you installed update 1.2.0-newbb.zip, you only factory reset on 1.1.1. You will have to go back to 1.1.1 and try again.

This is the official announcement of my Froyo ROM for dell streak.

THIS RELEASE IS NOW IN MY OPINION STABLE ENOUGH TO TRANSITION FROM BETA STATUS TO A PROPER RELEASE LEVEL

so further to this i have named my new release version 1.0. it still has bugs but none of them are serious enough to warrant remaining beta

the update process is now very simple to do but it does require that you flash a new baseband UNLESS YOUR USING A REBELSIM

Please see the excellent guide made by user homeiss here : http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...ing-the-streak/

Working:

Everything else that i know of work - may be some small issues that are being worked on - read thread as alot of issues are fixed by others here

30fps limit has been removed on all of these builds

Known Issues:

Accelerometer is dodgy at times but i cant pin down the issue yet - usually going into settings > display and toggling auto rotate on and off fixes

Known Bugs:

after you switch off wifi, the 3G data will not always come back on - head into mobile networks and toggle mobile data to fix

720P recording ONLY works if you choose mpeg4 as the codec, other ones WILL crash camera

we now have a nice new website blog for streakdroid - check it out and help me populate the wiki with faqs and get in the forums :) sites @ http://www.streakdroid.com

ok enough babbling on onto the howto:

#include <std_disclaimer.h>

/*

* Your warranty is now void.

*

* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,

* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please

* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM

* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if

* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

My need/lust for Froyo has gotten me into some trouble. I started on the stock 1.6 6601 build. I followed the instructions for updating the baseband ROM and my Streak locked after the reboot. The baseband update went fine i think, just after the ROM update I was stuck at the Dell splash screen. Left it alone for a half hour. I restored my nandroid backup and got into the phone but now I cannot get connected to AT&T network. And when i plug in the cable, it says unsupported battery and charging device detected. So the question is either how to get the stock baseband back or how to get this ROM updated so i can get back on the AT&T network with the new baseband. Argh rooting my personal Droid was much easier. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Hi All,

1st of all I'm a nub, very dense and easily confused, with that being said the last few days have been very interesting for me and my Streak.

I purchased my Streak (my 1st Android device) from Dell (AT&T) the 1st day it came out, and quickly became frustrated by the guy that sits in the cube in front of me, with his new Droid X, endlessly taunting me for months with the "ha ha you don't have 2.2 upgrade yet, and you paid how much for your phone?" Emboldened by Jenn at streaksmart.com step by step instructions, I decided to go for it. I went from 1.6 to 2.1 and then followed the instructions from 2.1 to Dell's official 2.2 upgrade with no issues.

During this process I discovered these Forums...YAY! And BTW Steve, your the bomb.

So almost as soon as I got my phone to Dell's 2.2 I realized the Steve's ROM is way way better, and wanted to try getting it on my device.

I did my research, tried downloading the upgrade zip but then realized that I needed clockwork recovery to use the zip. Basically I lost my way from there. I managed to get back to 2.1, get clockwork recovery working, but when I flash the 1.4.5 upgrade zip my phone bricked after the reboot (looked like 2.1 and came on, but was just stuck at the lock screen).

After freaking out for an hour I managed to flash the official Dell 2.2 back to the phone and after a factory reset my phone started working again.

The only problem is I am not happy with Dell's 2.2. The overclocking, the volume output increase, I really want it.

Would anyone be willing (Steve????) to make it easy for this nub and make a step by step with download links to required files on how to take my phone directly from Dell's Official 2.2 (by Steve, build 11548) to Steve's Custom 1.4.5 ROM, without having to go back to 2.1?

That would be total greatness!
