Guest sukicat Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Thanks Steve for all your efforts and Time in Getting 2.2 up and running and all the Others involved in this update Just beginning able to watch TV programs from BBC IPlayer is worth it alone One small thing there is a nice clock and date on the Locked Screen but dissapares when unlocked can this be put on the Main screen ?
Guest Charliest Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 ok. i did and plunged into the 2.2 craze. from att 1.6 to 2.2 froyo by steve by doing the fastboot method for img files. and i updated the qualcomm baseband. and installed the build.prop. thanks steve......excellent job. love the speed boost. here are the problems im experiencing. 1. im always getting this force close: "the application package checker (process com.oem.pakagechecker) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again" 2. i dont have full access to market. cant see google voice, adw.launcher, ultrakeyboard, and maybe more idk. 3. battery drain. had 90% when i left the house 5:20pm. 830pm now, battery down to 35%. might try draining it completely before recharging it. 4. MY LOCATION in maps will not work with only USE GPS SATELLITES checked. but when you check USE WIRELESS NETWORKS at the same time, it works. can pinpoint my location. 5. ultrakeyboard does not work, fc. my questions: 1. can i redo the fastboot process to reinstall 2.2? i want a clean state, may have messed it up when i used mybackupro to restore my previous apps. it did it successfuly, but i did not see any apps installed. 2. does the build.prop i downloaded have full market access or do i have to edit it for full market access? 3. i want themes, how to install themes? thanks in advance for everyones input. note: i tried keeping up since day one of release but i havent jump to 2.2 until now. now theres 20 pages of stuff to read. i read the same problems before. im sorry if im asking for the same things. I upgraded from a U.S. Streak running 1.6 in the same fashion. I suspect that updating the baseband results in a better end result. I am not savvy enough to explain the reason for that, but Steve's original procedure was simple enough that I would recommend it over the Clockworkmod route. I have seen few problems thus far other than "the application package checker (process com.oem.pakagechecker) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again". Once I replaced the build.prop file with Steve's update (using Root Explorer), the few applications I could not see in the market have returned. I not had any trouble with any application that I have installed thus far. There are a couple of middling nits, but I have not codified them yet. I am a very happy camper.
Guest madmax85812 Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 steve...nebody...neway to flash the 2.1 baseband without flashing 2.1 pkg? pls help. i am stuck n unable to flash pkgs.
Guest spences10 Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 since I installed the 2.2 I get a message about LOTA logs? NPI_err logs... what the heck does that mean? i just clear the message and it reappears later (like 8 or 9 hours) I had this and just removed from system/app after instruction from DJ_Steve sorry stephen, still not working. n now i cant even boot up, go to recovery or fastboot. :) volume keys pressed or camera button pressed, if i try to power up, nothing happens. if i try to power up normally, gets stuck at dell logo. if i press power button n wen see the leds light up, press cam button, still gets stuck at dell logo. wat to do? pls help. You may still be in the Qualcomm engineering mode, try pulling both batting + data cable
Guest marra2 Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Anyone wanting fring as its not viewable in the market go to m.fring.com from your phones browser and download from there, it works :0)
Guest davehod Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 FIXED IT! - the 3G/GPS Bug!! Read through my log further tonight, looks like it was disconnecting from mobile.o2.co.uk apn and connecting to the pay and go one that appears by default when the gps was being used... Just had to go in and untick default and supl from the payandgo APN and tick default and supl in the mobile.o2.co.uk APN - now have 3g/wifi/gps all working together :) ;) Pretty much just the orientation sensor bug left! James Thanks for that, one further observation; I still couldn't get a GPS lock until I deleted the default Paygo MMS APN and set up a new one with O2 Pay monthly settings (my tariff). With the APN changes and the new build.prop everthings now functioning bar some odditites with the G sensor now and again - apps appearing in landscape when phones held in portrait and vice versa. I know Qualcomm messes with the G sensor but suspect some other apps are also causing problems (dunno which ones yet). Should note that I've set ADW to fix the home screen in portrait mode - could be a contributory factor (though this was ok with 2.1). As per other posts well impressed with this build - Mr Hyde, you'r a star!

Guest Passe Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) I've problems with the Battery too, in only 2 hours from 100% to 30%. Tested this three times (rebooted between) I've checked Apps etc. Nothing open. ALL Settings (Wifi, BT, GPS,...) in the Power Control Widget where off. Mobile Standby has used about 35% and Display about 34% (Display was off the whole time). edit: German (00) Device, Updated Baseband Edited October 10, 2010 by Passe
Guest Be Vigilant Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Compass seems to be broken on mine. Doesnt work in Google Maps or Google Sky View I am using the first release on a UK Unlocked Dell Streak. Is it working for anyone?

Guest navrac Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) I've problems with the Battery too, in only 2 hours from 100% to 30%. Tested this three times (rebooted between) I've checked Apps etc. Nothing open. ALL Settings (Wifi, BT, GPS,...) in the Power Control Widget where off. Mobile Standby has used about 35% and Display about 34% (Display was off the whole time). Largely on standby but with apps running like weather/twitter/mailx2/facebook, wifi and data on. However what I did do is use the settings>wireless and netwok, mobile networks>Schedule data connections and set the cellular data timeouts to 15 minutes which may have helped. 0 hours 100% 3 hours 80% (I've just checked and auto brightness was not enabled so I'll see how the next few hours go.) 4 hours 69% (hmm worse than it was before) 5 hours 64% ( looking a bit non linear here) 6 hours 56% 8 hours 43% so its looking like 7% per hour for light use. I will see what it does when on standby overnight to compare. Installed juice defender from marketplace. removed facebook widget as it seems to stop the phone sleeping properly. Charged to 100% left on overnight with juice defender active, wifi off. 10 hours 98%. (on but didn't use it) 11 hours 95% - light use wifi enabled, checked email etc 12 hours 87% - medium use with wifi 20 hours 50% - including 30mins playing flash videos over wifi and downloading a few bits AS mentioned further down the thread I am also running at LCD=160 I'm on the second build with the 2.1 baseband will edit it hourly or so to keep an eye on the discharge curve. Guest phjnky Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) USB Tethering works great with Windows 7. Portable Wifi - no go. On another note for battery life check. The powertutor app in the market has a nice gui showing each app and usage stats etc. Works well to identify issues. Since it uses quite a bit of power itself, I just run it to check app/widget power usage then turn it off. Edited October 10, 2010 by phjnky
Guest Gopu Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 anybody using fasweb installer ( appbrain.com) ? Is it working for you ?

Guest jamezwarner Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Thanks for that, one further observation; I still couldn't get a GPS lock until I deleted the default Paygo MMS APN and set up a new one with O2 Pay monthly settings (my tariff). Can you let me know what apn proxy settings etc you used for this? my gps locks - but it takes a minute or so, so I assume it's not able to get the fast start data from the internet...
Guest lbj23numb1 Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 I know we just got forgo running but I was wondering if somebody could get the dell stock music player working
Guest gypsydigi Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Camera is working, you just need to apply the build.prop that steve made from the previous few post I've tried but it still doesn't work... :) Used Root Explorer to copy and paste the build file in the system folder with no luck... Is there something else i am missing?

Is there something else i am missing? You need root privileges to paste into the /system location, so have you run androot twice? Jimi
Guest gypsydigi Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 You need root privileges to paste into the /system location, so have you run androot twice? Jimi yup. ran it twice.. rooted the phone. renamed the build.txt to build.prop and overwrote the build.prop in the system folder (mounted the system as r/w). I'll give it another shot and see what happens...
Guest jnordb Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Everything seems to be working great...upgraded AT&T Streak with O2 2.1 rom to 2.2. Camera was not working until new build.prop file installed, now looks to be functioning. Thanks Steve!!!!
Guest XsCode Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) Some people are having problems with androot not working, in which case you can use adb by putting the build.prop in the same directory as adb and doing the following... adb remount adb push build.prop /system/build.prop You need root privileges to paste into the /system location, so have you run androot twice? Guest JackDupp Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 If I successfully updated my AT&T streak from 1.6 to 2.2 with yesterday's build, is there any reason to "flash the baseband"? (I'm not even really sure what that means) Also, it looks like there's a build with a GPS fix today. I imagine it's safe to update from 2.2 to these newer 2.2's, or should you revert to 2.1 each time? Thanks!
