DELL STREAK Froyo Build Beta - Version 1.2.0 Released

Hi guys i have been trying to update my streak but i am stuck at attempting to fast boot. Running XP here R3.

I cannot install the USB drivers on this PC! I va e 3 versions of drivers but I have not succeeded to install one of them.

Go to device manager>Other Devices-Adroid 1.0> Update driver manually> Select driver folder>Software not found!

Any suggestions?

edit: now im debating is i can get hold of a spare second streak as a dev device to brick more often, gonna need to be mega cheap tho hmm

I did that ,, no go,, :). Will not "find the drivers in the folder."No software found message)

Also tried this :

YEAH! I went into Device Manager, right click the device and choose 'Update Driver Software', then choose 'Browse my computer for driver software', then click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. A list of categories should appear, choose 'Android Phone'. Another list will appear, choose 'Android FastBoot'. The Streak should now show 'FastBoot'.

But the category Android Phone does not appear.

try the have disk option :)

on your home page, press menu button, Press ADWSettings, Screen Preferences

and then change desktop columns and rows. That might help. Mess around with the ADWSettings until you get what you like though on the resolution that you like. I'm on lcddensity 160 with 6 columns and 6 rows. very nice looking.

Thanks a lot DJ Steve for the new Froyo Build Beta - Version 0.2. You are better than Dell at this, I don't think anything as good as this will come from Dell anyway. Keep up the good job.

Does any one have a easy way to turn data on and off and switch 2g3g faster steve battery life much better in this beta 2 the rom is almost perfect for me apart from wifi wont pick up certain wpa wpa2 psk network.

I use "data enabler widget" in the market, its basically a shortcut to the data settings menu, but its straightforward & works well.

+1 for this. Removes the need for Dell's drop down widget on the home screen, can't recommend it enough.

Quick help please as I also need to customize my screen but fail to understand how and where to do it.

I was under the impression that I had to modify a config file to do so but your conversation makes me think that it can be done directly from the menus.

Can you please let me know the full path to follow to access these settings please?

What are you trying to do alter the ADW settings? just press the middle button on the right side of the streak and the ADW settings button on the row at the bottom,

I've been running this for a day now and had hardly any problems i think it's rebooted once on it's own everything else seems fine, i did have a issue with my wireless connection timing out when obtaining an IP but just setting my wireless up as a new connection and deleting the old one sorted it out easy, anything else was just settings and easy to do, liking this very much. :)

I have an unused streak with a broken touchscreen and overheating issues I could send your way if you think it helps. The cable to the capacitive buttons is torn though so I don't think the touchscreen can be salvaged, you would have to get a spare screen unit and replace it yourself. Plus the thing overheats at the drop of a hat anyway. But its not really doing anything here so its better than having it collect dust.

Here I have uploaded screenshots of how my ADW setup looks like. If you like it. All you need to do is to press middle button on the Streak, Go to ADW Settings, Screen Preferences, here you can set desktop columns and rows. There are many settings there, play with it until you get something you like.

Hi Steve,

First of all i have to say i have been following your progress with great interest and am amazed at how much you have achieved and so fast to seriously a great bit of work and achievements now seeing as you have asked why some of us have not upgraded as yet i will explain why i haven't.

My main Streak is a Unlocked/Unbranded 00 device direct from Dell and although its only running on 1.6 it does all i want and need and is set up how i like it and i really don't want to flash it to being a .21 device also at this time and as great as what you have done is it is still in Beta and I'm just not in that much of rush and would prefer to wait for a final release or even a Cyanogen Rom if one comes at which time it will be easier to decide what i want to do. I also don't like or use back up and restore programs especially when moving to a different version of an OS as i prefer a clean install and set up and don't fancy doing this unless i need to.

My other Streak is a 02 Locked and branded running 1.6 Build 3883 and i would be quite happy to try 2.2 on this but I'm currently having real problems with pain due to my chronic back condition and am on 180mg OxyContin twice a day being a strong Opiate it doesn't leave my mind clear and alert so am loathe to attempt any flashing as it may be to easy for me to seriously screw things up without knowing what i have done or am doing my heads just not in the right place just now.

Although i had flashed my original Steak to MCR Roms with no problems and used ADB until it had a hardware failure with it so i wouldn't consider myself a complete noob nor for that matter an expert either i have also flashed custom Roms and back to original Roms on my soon to be sold Galaxy S so its not like i don't know how to just don't really feel up to it just now is all.

Re your request for a cheap second device I'm not comfortable selling my second 02 locked Streak but could possibly give it to you on an extended loan and am sending you a PM with further details as would like to help you in your further development for our Streaks as value all your hard work and achievements and as i can't code this could be a good way for me of possibly helping.

lcd density can only be tunes by modifying the value in build.prop right?

Are you sure this will work? What do you think steve the network i want to connect to doesnt even show up on the list it dont pick it up but it picks others up fine thats my problem i am forced to use 3g data all the time so its draining my battrey more getting really tired of trying different things now someone must know whats wrong

that is bizarre mate, can you not add it manually and connect? im using a netgear router which is using the same secuirty settings (WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK) and i can see it and connect to it fine.

ps ive also been using it to connect to a bt business router at work and used the same security settings i forgot to add that bit.

What is the SID of your network - does it have weird characters in it or is it really long e.g 'jutleys_super_wifi_hotspot_mofo'?

Maybe try changing it to a short name or trying WPA2 PSK (if it supports) all the wifi networks I use at work/home (Linksys/Netgear/D-Link) are WPA2 PSK and the streak works fine with them all. Maybe it's just cos the BT routers are shite :)

I know i am mind bogled all the other networks show but not this one tried manual no go it just cant find that network but it finds my home virgin router with the same security if i try connect something else to the network it connects fine so the router is working and as i said before it worked fine on 2.1 roms anyone else want to try solve this puzzle.
