Guest brokenpixel Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Had the same problem, I didn't have BusyBox installed, then it all worked like butter. It seems that with "android mate" even with su permissions granted, it will appear as though the build.prop was successfully copied to /system however ** i edited it b4 hand to see if the file was keeping changes, and they were gone after copying. So build.prop is not being overwritten as i can see so far?.. As soon as I cash my work check im going to buy root explorer to confirm the files are being copied. I suspected this as my build prop is actually 1kb smaller than the update.. Jeez wish me luck guys reflashing v2, updating and posting finds.. :) Free = not always good..
Guest irenic Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 @Stephen: yeah i didnt notice there's RW mount option at the top screen in root explorer.. hehe thank u so much! newawy i pasted the 2 files, rebooted and ran quadrant.. but it kept on FC.. any idea why? @tony: yeah i noticed that android mate couldnt change streak file system from ro to rw.. but actually it works well with my galaxy S..
Guest sukicat Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Can some explain USB Debugging is and do I need to do it ?
Guest Vano3408 Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 root explorer will work, rem to reboot after of course Stteak is the best!
Guest irenic Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) dunno why, but finally got it to work after few restarts.. thanks a lot Stephen!! btw i dunno how to take screenshot, luckily got sgs lying around :) Edited October 14, 2010 by irenic
Guest degriz Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 o// Do you have a favourite beverage Steve? :)
Guest Alkiera Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I noticed in this new build.prop it turns off the hardware GPU?? debug.sf.hw=0 Is that intentional? Or is there maybe a reason this was turned off by default in Eclair, too?
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 it is intentional - it seems toslow froyo down for some reason
Guest mmmputch Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 it is intentional - it seems toslow froyo down for some reason Steve thanks for the great work! Just curious, I copied over the new test files and I reenabled the hw from 0 to 1and re ran the tests and they all seem to be the same or even better (quadrant). What is slower in froyo for you with hw enabled? For me, the gui seems smoother with it enabled.
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 hmm ill have to try with sf enabled too.
Guest parcsalooc Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 hmm ill have to try with sf enabled too. tried it and became very laggy. quadrant scores were 100-200 less
Guest Flavio Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 tried it and became very laggy. quadrant scores were 100-200 less My highest Quadrant score of 1425 was with debug set to 1! I don't notice any lag with it enabled either...
Guest mmmputch Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 My highest Quadrant score of 1425 was with debug set to 1! I don't notice any lag with it enabled either... That's good to hear, my quadrant with it enabled was 1455, and my widget menus have no lag at all. Disabled they seemed laggy compared to enabled.
Guest Fxx Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 How to uninstall adw launcher and make the icon bigger? Thanks
Guest DJHope Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Quadrant 1495 Neocore 30.6 Linpack 29.8 feels pretty smooth :)
Guest mansan Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 first of all thank you for provding this beta release. i was able to install it on my streak and am loving it. Noticed couple of issues 1) screen orinetation sometimes get stuck in potrait mode, have to reboot to fix this. 2) Wifi hotspot seems to be an issue. USB tethering works ok. when trying to turn on WiFi hotspot, it dosent enable the options/settingsThis is the offical announcement of my Froyo ROM for dell streak. the update process is now very simple to do but it does require that you are using a 2.1 firmware first please see the excellent guide made by user homeiss here : http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...ing-the-streak/ Working: market has issues with apps not showing ,we are investigating this Everything else that i know of work - may be some small issues that are being worked on - read thread as alot of issues are fixed by others here 30fps limit has been removed on all of these builds Known Issues: mobile data is turned off by default it can be easily enabled in settings no apns are included as standard these need adding manually. Known Bugs: after you switch off wifi, the 3G data will not always come back on - head into mobile networks and toggle mobile data to fix ok enough babbling on onto the howto: #include <std_disclaimer.h> /* * Your warranty is now void. * * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM * before flashing it! Guest tonymenocal Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Hey guys!!! Purchased Root explorer and was able to copy the build.prop and push the post.sh to their correct folders with RW access as well.. Benchmarks are astonishing especially the 30+ scores im getting on Linpack. (while besting the nexus in quadrant) * When I ran virtual terminal, however then su. Then "mount -o remount rw /system" This generated no error but did not change the accessibility of the folder. "I monitored from astro manager it never changed to rw" This is not important but intriguing because it boggles me why /system would resist the change even with the proper syntax?? I just want to feel like im not crazy, and I am just being stupid and overlooking the obvious. I got drill this weekend so I will be enjoying down time with my new improved streak.. YOU ROCK MR. HYDE
Guest DJHope Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 That's interesting i used 'mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system'
Guest Alkiera Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 That's interesting i used 'mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system' that's the command I usually use, but I don't generally specify the '-t yaffs2' flag.
Guest kyleporambo Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I do see occasional lag with the hw turned on and off but it is consistently smoother with it turned off, but benchmarks are higher when it's on. Quadrant 1598 Nenamark 21.5 Linpack 32 http://imgur.com/RR3PF
Guest Ed Venture Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 love the new changes but having an issue with regards to sms: i use handcent as my client and have notifications for the stock messenger checked off yet they still run, i still get stock message notification in the status bar and stock ringtone. i tried a few others and had the same results, even tried removing mms.apk and could not get stock notifications to stop. edit: this is on v2 of the zip update with new changes posted earlier. had the same issue with the 1st version as well. anyone else experiencing this???? I too am experiencing the same issue with V2. Stock MMS notifications are turned off, but they still come through and the custom notification sound for Handcent does not work. I have not done a whole lot to look into it yet. Ed
