Wiping dalvik cache probably won't free up any space on your phone, while I highly recommend not wiping cache (it won't delete the caches of, say, your browser or other apps; instead, it wipes the cache partition on your device, which contains some crucial information AFAIK regarding the devices radio and cell reception).

For freeing up space on your phone, here are my tips:

  • Remove any apps you don't use. I'm serious. There are a lot of cases when you install an app you like at first glance, you try it out and say to yourself, "This is awesome, I'm sure I'm going to use it in the future!" then you don't ever use it again and forget that it's even installed on your device. Prime suspects are live wallpapers, games that look awesome but play like crap, Google Earth, camera apps, themes, and widgets.
  • If you aren't using LCR 1.1.2 and a couple of your system apps have updated versions installed, remove the updates, then remove the system app via a tool like Titanium Backup, then reinstall the app from the market. Whenever a system app is updated, the original app is kept on the disk instead of being overwritten, so an app like Adobe Flash Player can take up a huge amount of space, seeing as the device has it installed in two different places. If you are using LCR 1.1.2 or any other ROM that has a separate partition for system apps, I highly recommend you buy Titanium Backup Donate and use the "Integrate system update into ROM" feature.
  • If you have Titanium Backup, you can move apps to your SD card even if the app normally doesn't allow it. Moving apps to the SD card is usually highly recommended for any app that doesn't do a lot of I/O after initialization (gaming performance is usually unaffected, as games usually load all the resources they need into the RAM when they start up) or any app that doesn't need to start up automatically (basically, mostly everything besides widgets, home launchers, and a couple "tweaking" apps like SetCPU).
  • If you want to be able to clean the caches of your apps easily, download an app called "CacheCleaner NG". AppBrain Link

Awesome tips! Thanks! tried the cache cleaner and it gave me +5MB. nice!

cant find the option in titanium back up on moving apps to sd for apps that dont normally allow it. is it in the pro version only?

im using lcr-f so i guess i dont need to uninstall updates and uninstall the app then reinstal from market as u suggested, right?

thanks again.

You need a Froyo based bin first! :D

LCR-F1.1.2 is based on 4.504b.00_EMEA-GEN1_05.01.05

enjoy

Long press the app (in Backup/restore tab) and then there's an option Move to SD. Works in free version. It's pretty awesome. I have lots of big games installed on my phone and still 40 mb left! (and I can have more if I move them all to SD with Titanium Backup).

Other options are to move some apps with root explorer from the Data partition to the system partition. But that has problems with updating so only apps that doesn't need to update.

Where is lcr-Team??

+ 1

I'm holding off on reinstalling what for some reason has become a super slow lcr-F1.1.2 in the hope that the 2.0 version will solve the speed problem.

I'd guess it's a ram issue...

We just have to be patient. On Dec 31, Malez tweeted that he is hoping for better days, and that life is sometimes too cruel. I know from some previous posts from him and others that he is going through some personal stuff right now, so let's all channel some positive energy/pray/meditate/raise a glass to Malez. When the time comes, he'll return!

I have been Using the lates rom for a while now and all of a sudden I can no longer play video files with any video player other then RockPlayer. I get the message sorry this "video cannot be played". It doesnt matter if the files is internet (Youtube player) or local. Videos that used to play now dont. They will work with RockPlayer though.

Anybody had this issue?

Try to change audio codec in LCR Settings / tweak

I am still with you. Still trying to find time to release. Tomorrow I will flash my phone one more time and see if latest full is good (previous one was good but i had to update some apps, so test again). I must create the changelog. It takes time too. I won"t explain what i am facing but it is the most important think in my life.

I'm running 4.005.05.AAP.GEN2_A22F_A and LCR-F 1.0 on my Liquid E. do I need to flash it to 4.504b.00_EMEA-GEN1_05.01.05 first before applying the 1.1.2 patch?

thanks!

hmm why do I always get the force close message whenever I patched it to 1.1.2? I dont get it actually, it says that process.android.acore had to be stopped. and I also couldnt open my phone or my message. got any idea about this?
