Sorry if this has already been discussed but im trying to establish if there is a fault with my SF.

I posted earlier reguarding a general slugishness, jerky scrolling between screens and fast batery drain....Last night i uninstalled most of the apps i had downloaded, switched off Data running in background and performance generally improved.

Batery meter showed 53% when i went to sleep and when i woke this morning its showing 52%....(Result) however it still drains rapid when screen is on (down 12% in 10 minutes with syncing: mail, weather, facebook....is this normal?)

So what have i noticed?

While the CPU & Memory appear to be stable fluctuating between 30-50%. The batery usage indicator is showing Worryingly High. This morning its shows

Android System 90%

Cell Standby 6%

Phone Idle 6%

I know lol doesnt add up??

Thing is mostly all of yesterday when i checked this usage the 'Android System' was showing 100% (No stanby nor phone idle displayed) this was when the phone was not doing anything.

Sorry folks if its just me being overly cautious but im just not sure what these stats should be reading or if in fact what i am seeing is 'Normal Behaviour'

Would really appreciate if anyone could throw some light on this, i just dont know if the phone has a fault or not :)

Im using Stock orange F/W and have not Rooted or flashed...Could it help if i did? Catch 22 there since i wouldnt be able to return it if rooting didnt resolve the issue. Grrr! Help

Edit: Should also mention the phone does get overly warm during use

I'm using r3 ROM and rooted. The phone does get warm, but only when charging.

I'm getting about 24hours out of the battery with normal 3G use, using weather, mail and new updates.

I also notice that the CPU usesage varies, even between reboots or how long you leave it on, but I have also noticed that once it does settle down to around 20-30percent CPU useage it seems to settle down and stay there.

If you root and load r3 you can still go back to a stock rom and remove superuser from your system. If you spend some time reading the many threads on here it has been mentioned on how to do this in several of them.

Cool thanks. any chance you could post your Batery use stats: As above mine shows 'Android System' usage is extremely high. Im not sure if this is expected though

If I'm understanding you correctly the figures you are looking at are showing the distribution of the CPU load between apps, not the actual CPU usage. e.g. your CPU might be running at 25% total load. If Android is taking 80%, Phone is 10% and Call is 10% then Android is only using 20% of the whole CPU (80% of 25%) and Cell and Phone are taking 2.5% each (10% of 25%).

In other words you have nothing to worry about with those figures.

Ahh! that would make sense, thanx for explainig....So my batery usage being 90% is actually a good thing?

For anyone looking for Batery usage (noobs to android like me, its not a %batery meter to show how much jiuce you have left)

Press anywhere on homescreen to bring up widget menu

: Select 'Shortcut

: scroll down and select 'Settings.

:Select 'Batery Use' (1st option)

Which will add icon to your homescreen

For some reason i couldnt find this option in the usual 'Settings' Settings :)

Ooops! Scrap That. I just found it in settings>about phone...Duh!
