Guest rahulkadukar Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Is anyone else having the problem of not being able to switch to another keyboard in froyo. I was able to switch keyboards no problem in 1.6. How does one switch keyboards :)
Guest radddogg Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Well all three swype apks I've got FC as soon as you activate them. What is the point of these constant betas? I mean FFS just release it so I can buy it?! So frikkin annoying. Annoying got a link to a working apk so I can steal it seeing as swype don't want me to buy it?
Guest BooToo Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Hello I have removed the file I have install the apk I can now access the keyboard conf without the crashing but..... Despite the fact I selected the new keyboard, I stil get the old one ;-( What did I missed? Thanks
Guest DJHope Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 For the Droid X keyboard to work properly on Froyo you need this repack of it.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764021 Works for me
Guest marra2 Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Just got the droid x keyboard and it rocks. Better than swype!

Guest vinokirk Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Just got the droid x keyboard and it rocks. Better than swype! Just tried that keyboard, its pretty cool! Nice fast typing with 2 thumbs, a few errors, but it was my first go!
Guest gilrad Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Yeah, I found that apk of the droidx... But is it me, or does it seem less responsive than the other versions? Plus the backspace and caps buttons are a little mis-aligned. Still, best landscape keyboard I have found for the streak.

Guys installed the Keyboard via copy/paste Root explorer, but still get the same keyboard. What did I do wrong?
Guest navrac Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Is there a keyboard with cursor keys? I tend to type then look and with huge thumbs find it very hard to put the cursor where i need it to edit!
Guest DJHope Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 the black version of that droid x keyboard is a disaster (at least i found it was) stick to the normal / white one :)
Guest wyxwyx Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I look for a keyboard that similar to 1.6 stockkeyboard of Streak. I need cursor keys, ALT, CTRL on the main keyboard page. Idea?

Guest RedSlug Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) For those that want cursor keys, Ultra keyboard has them. I'm not sure if they are on by default, but there is an option to turn them ion and off. Ultra keyboard also has a "Swype" style of input, although not as good at predicting the correct word. I'm using ultra keyboard, and it has cursor keys BUT not TAB and ctrl. Lack of these problem to use the terminal clients. This is very slow to shift the keyboard layout every time. The 1.6 stock keyboard was the ever seen best keyboard on Android for me, at the moment no alternative.
Guest SomeoneStoleMyYodafone Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 dont think its been said, but I changed my LCD density to 240 (stock evo DPI), and the HTC IME worked! it also worked at 200, then when I went back to 160, of course not, this is also probably my favorite keyboard. From the bottom of my heart I thank you, sir :) For me there's no virtual keyboard on the planet that comes close to matching the HTC IME in speed and accuracy. Smart Keyboard is fast but the keys are squashed together. The backspace key in particular was a real PITA to use. Swype, bless its creators, simply doesn't work well on the Streak. Sw(y)ping is tiring on a large, heavy device, especially when on the move. And typing on Swype sucks. The Droid X IME was accurate but slow - it tended to miss key touches. I swear my typing speed has doubled since I got the HTC IME installed about a half hour ago. This made me fall in love with my Streak all over again.
Guest BooToo Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Hum... same here... Unless I select an LCD density of 200 as a minimum Swype does not work... Do you guys managed to get an alternative keyboard to work sucessfully at 160 by any chance? Many thanks
