TTS and STT

I'm running 2.1 update 1 firmware and have PICO and TTS voice data installed but I cant seem to get any speech software to work. When I check "listen to an example" in settings nothing happens. Anyone else having this problem?

Also is this phone capable of Speech to Text and voice calling?

Yeah, you can do Speech to texts, with something like SlideIT keyboard, enable speech in the options, and press the mic, and talk.

You need a data connection though, as it uses Google servers to translate it, as do all the voice services.

Voice dialing you can't, but you can use voice Google search, and contacts, and Search in maps.

Have you installed the TTS files from the market?

I think I got them but maybe I missed one. I got the text to speech part working but not speech to text. Says that the device doesn't support it when I click on the microphone in slideIt keyboard.

You have to enable it, in the slideIT settings, in language and keyboard, and also have an active data connection, as it uses Google Servers to translate.

I am connected via wireless at home and the settings page for slide it keyboard has the " enable voice input" blacked out huhh

You need to download Voice Search, from the market, then you can work the voice stuff.
