Dell (-like) status bar on Froyo???

Someones added a file and how to on xda.forum showing how to get a black notification bar on froyo only, looks pretty cool with font colours changed as well

same with me. Dell's custom taskbar was too handy, unique, will miss it :huh: if official 2.2 doesn't implement

I miss not being able to see the Date on the top left. I also find myself tapping on the signal strength symbols on the top right to bring up Settings.

If the Froyo notification bar could be slightly narrower and set in from the left then the date would be visible. The bar doesn’t actually need to be as wide as it is anyway.

Maybe Dell would help out with a couple of apks, one for the notification bar and another for the 1.6 keyboard.

Dell could usefully position itself as ‘community friendly’. I can’t see what harm it would do and would enhance its status with those who care for such things - i.e. everyone here.

I liked the bar too, it makes sense on a landscape device. There's no need for an 800px wide taskbar, might as well use the extra space for other stuff.
