Accidentally stumbled across this today

Aigo N700 (7" Tablet)

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Android-Bas...ed-166755.shtml

http://tablet-news.com/2010/11/17/aigo-n70...gn-tegra-2-cpu/

http://www.slashgear.com/aigos-tegra-2-aig...rives-16114300/

The design is something different but I kinda like it... doesn't look like an iPad clone.

The good stuff is what's under hood though:

- Dual Core 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 CPU (Tegra 250)

- 512MB RAM

- Android 2.1

- 1080p full HD video

- supports Adobe Flash 10.1 (Can that be right on Android 2.1?)

- 7 inch WVGA capacitive multitouch display

- 3G (!!!!!!!!!), WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, HDMI out

- 1.3MP webcam

- G-sensor, accelerometer, 3G voice calling, USB, audio, video, dock connections

- Micro SD (as per a comment on this site: http://www.pocketables.net/2010/11/aigos-f...pocketables%29)

- Mass of only 380 grams!

According to Softpedia & Slashgear, this should carry a price tag of around $450...

Hmm, this looks pretty nice. I'd be quite interested in this device even though 7" tablets are not my preference.

I went to a local currys to ask a shop droid about this new android

Despite him being quite geeky looking, he did not have a clue, and after much keyboard tapping, he said that the system showed no delivery dates

Dunno. $450 was mentioned which would be pretty expensive when converted to GBP.

Works out to about £283 which is a whole lot cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Of course these are all direct conversions from 2'999 yuan so the price is very likely to change once the device is released in the US, Europe and UK

I've just created a device page for the Advent Vega on Android Guide. I've also created a barebones MoDaCo wiki page to start documenting any information we stumble across (release dates, discounts, rooting guides, etc.)

Android Guide Device Page: http://www.androidguide.co.uk/device/advent-vega

MoDaCo Wiki Page: http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Advent_Vega

As soon as Paul has created the Advent Vega discussion forum, I'll update the links on my site.

Sorry had to contact Currys the suspense is killing me. He has told me that Advent keep pulling the date back and they are just waiting on the go ahead. No physical stock but should be this week.He had no idea Archos 101 existed so had to check on his systems but knew straight away about the vega. Not sure why im posting this as its nothing we dont already know and will only further add to the confusion B)

Does seem hard to believe a company this big does not have access to release dates and delivery times for a product. Seems this would be one area they need to brush up on.

Just been in PCW. Guy looked it up on his system but no store in Scotland had them. He said they would come in with a private courier so could arrive anytime between now and the weekend. Was very helpful do not all staff in these stores are numpties.

The wait continues.

I know what you're saying here but I've previously worked in similarly sized retail companies and the stores literally have no idea what they're getting in sometimes. Always used to baffle me at the time.

For what it's worth (please no one get their hopes up and shoot me for this) I popped down to PC World last night because I know a couple of the guys in there. The first lad had no idea, he went to the manager and asked when they're coming in, he answered immediately "18th. Tomorrow. Should have been out on the 1st, delayed until the 18th. We're had nothing since to suggest a further delay." He then explained stores (may have just been on about his, don't know) get deliveries on a Thursday so the date makes sense. He then took my number and said he'd give me a call "at around 1:30PM when the delivery comes in".

Needless to say, I shall torture him if this is not correct.

I think we should keep all these delays, cockups, general confusion and amateur behaviour from these companies to ourselves.

If Steve Jobs or Mr Google ever found out about them they would be unbearable - "told you so" and "it's not ready for tablets" - can you imagine their smugness?

So - no one post anything on any forums or anything, right

...........................Doh!
