problem is tho paul the streak had same issue with baseband and my 2.2 rom, but replacing the ril libs with 2.1 ones makes it work - this doesn work on sanfran

Also, we dont have a baseband ROM that matches what the phone is expecting results in lots of 'Unknown' in the About/Phone

Yeah, I tried that already too... i've tried to reverse everything to the stage where it's falling over, but it's not particularly helpful or easy! :P

lol the 2g vmsplit doesn halp i cant just drop a diff rom in as all other froyo ones are build for a vmsplit of 3g. well except the one im building now :P

We could do with getting a proper ZTE update file with the baseband in I reckon...

persist is just a partition , woudln personally worry about that its not critical for any device

yes but on the zte v880 is mtd7: 01500000 00020000 "oem" could this be why we are getting baseband unknown?

no

oem and #'persist' are likely the same thing , store critical files and/or oem customization

its only thing that doesnt work and as i said above im tryign to build cm6 instead of hacking the leaked rom, my vps i use for building is being crap though (used to be able to build the full android source in ~30mins now its taking hours, so looking for a dedicated server to build on, not havign much look in my current price range at mo tho

no if you read it i said i had it workign for about 5secs on boot (gets just into the android ui and network disappears

we'll get it working just need either to hack this rom more or build new one

I have emailed back the Chinese guy who I made the recovery update for, and asked him where he got it from, I assumed he'd had a retail one, but I've heard its not on sale yet....
