Random other newb suggestion.... Have you tried putting the phone by an analogue radio when you turn it on and see if you hear the usual mobile interference/morse code type noise!?

That would show if the radio really is being activated?

So you have the phone part working, with signal?

You can make a call etc.

What was causing it? What did you change that fixed it :P

I'm not getting any signal, but I still have the Orange UK SIM in it. Maybe it doesn't like roaming.

Used ril libraries from eclair and replace everything in /system/app with standard froyo apps from the aosp rom I started building a few days ago.

What did you do to get a signal? I'm not getting any errors now, so just hoping its a problem with roaming.

i did same ive got a aosp froyo build i orig did for streak so im using its apps, also had to replace services.jar with aosp one and the eclair libs/qcril jars

edit: tom G if you have msn/gtalk i wouldn mind swapping ideas for sorting this out - feel like im missing somethign stupid here

Doesn't modaco have an irc channel somewhere.

I changed to a local SIM basically get the same thing.

Changing the services.jar has some interesting results. :P Does it actually have signal or is it just showing the wrong icon.

I get a message "Phone is RUIM Service Provider locked" in the status drop down.

It would only be a roaming issue if the SIM was non UK - the radio is a radio is a radio, the SIM and network combination defines what is and isn't roaming.

Just a thought. Is it possible that it's been locked to just a few networks ? Just those in its home area?

Could there be a lookup table of network code that it'll attach to ?

IIRC this rom originated from a pre-release Chinese Blade.

1/ Was there a confirmation that it was ever working (as a phone), even in China?

2/ And if it was, would knowing the network, or knowing anything anything that a (working in China) phone could report while operational, be helpful? The source of this thing should still be reachable ...
